What’s Up With Survey Spot??
Survey Site Reviews December 28th, 2009Just when you think you’ve found the best online paid survey site which sends out lots of surveys and pays well, they change to a points system and it all falls apart. Good grief. Steve left a great comment about Survey Spot on the blog over the week-end:
I am also having problems with Survey Spot since they have changed to the points system. Two weeks ago I sent them this complaint. I have followed up several times on this through their website and have yet to hear even though they promise to respond in 72 hours.
“According to your website, points are awarded immediately after a survey is completed. In the past several weeks I have completed the following surveys: #782474 for 300 points on 12/19; #781224 for 100 points on 12/16;#780855 for 700 points on 12/10; #778314 for 200 points on 11/19. As of this date I have not seen any points for any of the above mentioned surveys I have completed being credited to my account. Additionally I have completed the following surveys for cash: #774038 for $3.00 on 11/24; and # 772644 for $2.00 on 10/7. These cash rewards are also not shown as being credited to my account. I also emailed you last week regarding payment on the 10/7 survey. I have yet to hear back. “
They used to be a dependable website though they were always slower than most in crediting completed surveys. That is why I also keep the invitation email after I complete one so I can keep track. At this point, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut because SSI is accredited by them. If enough of us do this, maybe SSI will realize that they have a service problem on their hands. Until my complaint is resolved, however, I refuse to waste my time taking their surveys.
This is a familiar refrain as of late and I have to agree with Steve wholeheartedly. My once favorite sites is having major issues. I guess all we can do is keep complaining and hopefully they will get all of the kinks worked out. Tell us what you think! Is everyone having trouble with Survey Spot these days, or is it just a lucky few??

I agree completely about Surveyspot! This was one of my favorite and best survey sites, but since they have changed their web site and to the point system, I have found that they are no longer worth the time and effort. I rarely receive any survey invitations that are worthwhile, and the few that I have taken have not been credited. Their new web site is cluttered and much worse that it was in my opinion. The last few days I have been caught in some sort of loop where I am offered a survey but then it says the survey is full and offers another and then tells me the survey is full and over and over… really sad to see a great site go to the worse…
December 28th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I have noticed the same thing with survey spot, and have quit filling in surveys unless there is a dollar amount attached. To this day, I have not received points for any surveys that I have done. This has been going on before they switched over to the new website and points system.
December 28th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
I am having problems also I have taken three surveys quite a few weeks ago and have not received the points. I just left it alone. I guessed if they feel like they will give me the points when they get good and ready. It kind of makes me not want to take their surveys so quick, but if you don’t they go away . I think this system stinks so far but maybe it will get better. They probably do have o work out the kinks.

I am unsure what they are doing over at Survey Spot. I have been a member for just over a year and until all of these changes took place it was number one with me. In the last month-they have lost my account 2 times and I had to totally sign up again. When I did the information that I had already input in my profiles was there but none of my “points”. Also when they went to the system-all of the “cash” that I had earned was totally gone. I wrote them (which took an act of God to do) and they said to wait they were working on it. Now normally I just wait-but unless they are getting their help from Santa’s workshop and all of them were on temp leave-onit seems that 3 weeks is enough time to at least send out an update on what action they are attempting to take. Guess I will just wait and see what happens in the future. Thanks for letting me vent.

I, too, have had problems with them crediting points when they switched over to the point system. I have, however, had no problems (yet) with them crediting the cash for surveys taken prior to switching over. I just cashed in a few days ago on the cash system and now I wonder if I’ll be getting a check sometime soon. My son has joined since they started the point system and he has had no problem getting points credited to his account, but when he went to cash out, it was indicated that he’ll receive a check instead of it getting deposited into paypal.
I imagine that a big company such as survey spot, it will take some time getting all the kinks worked out. Look how long it took them to switch over from checks to paypal and that’s still not completely worked out. I say keep doing their surveys, they’ve never NOT paid us in the past, even thought they have taken their time, and let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and give them more time to work some of the problems out. I know they’ve had enough time already, but look at the time of year they decided to change. Most folks don’t really have their minds on their jobs and are almost totally focused on the upcoming holidays and finances to pay for it. SurveySpot is still a great all-time Number One survey site in my book.
December 28th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
I have unsubscribed after 3 years, I have not seen any rewards…not worth it
December 28th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
I’ve been having a lot of problems with them as well. As soon as they switched over to the new points system, their customer service is terrible and they haven’t answered one of my e-mails about my points not been credited. I’ll continue to take their surveys though because i get several invites a day and i figure they’ll eventually credit my points. I wish they would have sticked to their old system though because i had no problems at all.
December 28th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
I have to agree. Survey Spot is definitely at the bottom of my list now. Another is Mindfield Online. I used to do so well with these sites. If I don’t get my earnings soon, which is way passed the due date I will email them again and this time I will tell them that I will report them to surveypolice.com. I’ve never had to file a complaint before and really don’t want to nor have I ever told a site I would report them. But if they want respond to us or pay what is do then this seem to be the only option. I will wait a little longer and see what happens in the new year, but as of now I will not take another survey from survey spot.
December 28th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Well, I had over $30 of points pending and the thing is when you have 1000 pts or more and request payment, you get the payment instantly. I request the payment once.
December 28th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
Sounds like we are all experiencing the same problems… and disappointment with Survey Spot. That is why when I saw an ad for Big Spot, it was Survey Spot’s new name.
I only do Survey Spot surveys that have a cash reward.
December 28th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
I agree about Survey Spot about them posting the points and I really don’t like Survey Spot. I would’ve they went back to giving money then points since we could all use the cash then points and entering us in sweepstakes that we don’t win anyway. I don’t survey spot any more because of there points for doing survey for them. Until they fix there problem I won’t be doing any more surveys for them in the near future. I would be glad to get paid for doing them unstead of getting points. So be careful when you sign up for a surveys when they said they paid and they don’t pay you just give you points. Who cares for points when they are good for anything.
December 28th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
I posted about Survey Spot just about an hour ago and then decided to go to the site just to see if any of my points had shown up yet and no they haven’t. But while I was there I decided to go ahead and update my profile. Well there where total of twelve and 11 of them had nothing checked on them. And I know I had a profile and I’m very good at keeping profiles to all my sites updated on a regular basis. So I don’t know why 11 of them where blank, but filled them out again and took me about an hour. Very strange. I wonder if they did this when they changed over to points and added these. But anyway thought I would pas this information along incase anyone wants to check theirs out. If you find the same thing please come back and post it. Thanks, Debra

If it’s only a lucky few, I’m part of that lucky few.The day when SS told me they switched to a point system and they’ll credit completed surveys “immediately” just like OO does, i thought this is great, the best survey company just got better. After I completed my first paying point survey and saw that it wasn’t credited and i had to wait again, I knew from then that it was to good to be true. Ever since they switched though i have been receiving more paying surveys whether its points or dollar amounts. I completed more than enough of them and noticed they aren’t steppin up to what they promised, being they aren’t paying up. So for now I’m taking a break from taking any of their surveys until they do what they got to do, especially since they don’t answer back emails, or at least mine. Even though their system is a yutz right now, I think they are still legit and will eventually fix the problem.
December 28th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
I also have done surveys with survey spot and never have been credited. I emailed them over a week ago about a survey I took that wouldn’t let me take the second part of it so I could be credited. I have never heard anything.
December 28th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
I just received a check for $70 from Survey Spot. When I went in to look at my account, it said that I still had rewards under the old system. I clicked the button and there was still $5 in my account. I requested it and the message said it would take about 8 weeks. Just thought I ‘d let you know. People should look at their account and see what is there under the old system.
December 28th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
I have been a SurveySpot member for a long time and have never had any problems with them. But after I read this, I went to check my account. Since they have switched to this point system, none of my points are showing up. Also I had a dollar balance before the switch and it has disappeared. One good thing I can say about them is that in Nov. I won $100 prize from spinning the slot machine after I didn’t qualify for a survey and I did receive the $100 payment to my paypal in Dec. So that was great. I really hope they get things straightened out.
December 29th, 2009 at 1:40 am
I am so mad at Survey Spot, I have been with them for about a year and used to love them. I probably have made about $70 that I cash out. In about September, the problems started. I never got a $7 check that I cashed out between a $25 check and a $5, both of which I recieved. I have contactred them twice in the last two weeks, with no response. There are $15 in surveys since 9/3 that I have not been paid for, so they owe me $22. I bet in about September is when they were starting to switch over and that is why nobody is getting paid. I wonder if they are under no ownership, I sure hope not because if they are this is just showing what is to come. I am really hoping that they are just having problems since they changed the system and everything will go back to normal soon, though I doubt it! Good luck to everyone, here’s hoping we all start getting paid.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:54 am
Well, it looks like I am not the only one having problems with the new points system at Survey Spot. I have been a member since June 09, and up to the switch had ranked Survey Spot in my top three survey sites. Currently, I have taken $30 worth of points surveys with none of them being credited to my account as promised by their site. I have emailed them several times and have not had one response even though they promise a reply within 72 hours. I also had cash remaining in the old system which I just cashed out in mid December. We will see if they pay, whicfh has never been a problem in the past. But until I receive my latest cashout, I am temporarily taking a break from doing any more Survey Spot surveys.
I must say that before the switch, I received a fair amount of paying surveys which I qualified for and completed. This continues to be true after the switch, but I am not sure if the rewards will be there in the end, thus the break.
Another thing is that while the site says that points are credited immediately after taking points surveys, I have noticed that at the end of these surveys it states that any rewards will be posted within 4 – 6 weeks just like the old system. Thus, I thought well maybe the points will post after about 6 weeks. My first points survey was date 11/4/2009 and nothing has been credited to my account, so I am not really sure what is really going on at Survey Spot. The fact that they will not respond to emails and complaints makes me very uneasy. For now I will be concentrating my efforts on my other top sites.
December 29th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
You know I have gotten checks I think 2 in the past from Survey Spot but something has changed and have been still doing a lot of surveys with them and I just checked to see how many points I have now and it says 0 points.
You can add me to your list now about not liking Survey Spot anymore.!
Happy New Year to all of you!
December 29th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
This site continues to frustrate me. Still have not got any word back from their customer service. I think they are all on hiatus for the holidays or something. Hopefully 2010 will bring us better news from them.
December 29th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Currently I have 1050 points from seven surveys that I took between October 29 and December 17 that have not been credited. I have been credited for 700 points from surveys that I took between December 2 and December 21. I am going to inquire after January 1, 2010 about the uncredited survey points. I think four to six weeks should be sufficient to credit points and I see that some have been credited in less than two weeks.
December 29th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
Yes, I haven’t been credited for all the surveys that I have taken with Survey Spot since the new change over. Like others have said it takes between 4-6 wks and the end of the completed survey. So far I only have 300 pts showing in my acct. I know by now I should have around 2000. Today I also Qualified for an instant invoke of 1500 pts and again at the end it said I would be credited in 4-6 wks.
I’m not giving up on Survey Spot. They have been very good to me, I’m sure it’s just the change over. I wish I would of kept track of the points that I earned but I didn’t. One person said the points are No Good, but the when you reach 1000 points you can Cash Out for $10.. That’s good enough in my book.

[...] had 22 comments on the blog and another 50 in email complaints about problems! You can click here to read them all. It’s 100% unhappy campers. I’ve sent an email to Survey Spot customer [...]
December 30th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
I am glad to see that others are commenting on SurveySpot. I have had problems with them because it seems I spend quite a bit of time on what seems like a survey and then it pops up and says I do not qualify. I am going to unsubscribe.
December 31st, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Count me in as another frustrated survey taker. They have gotten worse in the past 3 or 4 months. My issues.
1) Invalid Survey Links
2) Starting a survey only to be told 1, 2, 3, 4 o4 5 questions into the survey that I can’t go any further becaus “more of our members responded than we expected and we’ve received all the interviews we need for this research study
3) It has becoem harder to qualify for surveys.
4) My membership has become de-activated several times even though I was actively taking surveys. I had to hassle to get the membership re-activated
5) And probably the biggest frustration–They don’t respond to e-mails I’ve written to them about problems with the site or surveys issues.
December 31st, 2009 at 4:55 pm
I have been missing some survey credits as well from survey spot recently. However, maybe its just coincidence, but ever since they changed to the points system, seems like I’m at least getting more qualifying opportunities through them as well. So in other words, I’m making a bit more money from them already, even with the missing credits. Still, it could get annoying if they don’t fix it.
January 1st, 2010 at 11:05 pm
i used 2 like them a lot but they pretty much suck now… i havent done their surveys for a long time and i wont do them til i stop hearin so many complaints!
January 2nd, 2010 at 9:53 pm
First thing Monday morning I am emailing SurveySpot, MindField Online and ClearVoice and see who credits my points quickest and report back here.
January 2nd, 2010 at 10:55 pm
Yep i’m hoping SurveySpot updates everything after the holidays. I have lost track of how many points i’m owed by them.
January 3rd, 2010 at 4:56 pm
I have it calculated down to the point.
January 4th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
I just read that survey spot will only be giving out 50 points per survey. That means it won’t vary.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:59 pm
I feel as if i’m in the Twilight Zone or something lately with SurveySpot…what on Earth are they doing?…apart from confusing the heck out all their panel members. My points still haven’t been updated and now they are sending out 50 point surveys….weird!
January 5th, 2010 at 12:47 am
Since December 1, I have received 20 surveys for points from SurveySpot as follows:
100 points: 9
150 points: 1
200 points: 7
500 points: 2
700 points: 1
I have qualified for two for 100, one for 150 and one for 200 and have been credited for 100 points from Dec. 2 so far.
January 5th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Finally, today I received an answer from Survey Spot regarding the new point system(see my post from 12/12/2009). After four emails spanning 4 weeks, today I got an answer from the first one I sent dated 12/3/2009.
All of my emails concerned the new points system and why my points were not being credited as the new site says. Currently, since 11/4/2009, I have qualified for and completed 11 surveys totaling 3000 points and my account balance still shows zero. Below is the response that I got today as to how they are posting points:
Thank you for your e-mail.
Some surveys do not post points immediately. If you qualified to complete a survey offering points, your points will be posted as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience
Best Regards,
SurveySpot Member Services
This is quite a bit different from the way that the site says points are posted. According to their site , points are credited immediately after qualifying and completing surveys. I just checked the site again and it seems the wording of how points are awarded has been changed slightly. It no longer says that points are credited immediately, however, if you look under the help tab about how points work, it says that points are awarded within a few days of completing surveys. This still does not explain not having any points in my account after nearly two months.
I will say that finally hearing from them, I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now as they do seem to be working the bugs of the new system. Before the switch, they were definitely on of my top five survey sites and I do hope that work this situation out.
January 5th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Well i logged into my SurveySpot account this afternoon and i was happily surprised to see that they have put 750 points into my account. I then cashed out for 1450 points. I think they are slowly getting this new survey point system on track. I also did a survey for 50 points today and i saw that that was immediately credited to my account as well.
January 5th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
I have already received my 1450 point payment from them via PayPal. Just a few minutes after i requested payment, 5 minutes later it was in my PayPal account…i’m lovin SurveySpot again and forgive them for all their technical problems…
January 6th, 2010 at 6:40 am
YAY! My Survey Spot points have been added to my account today! Hooray!! They had me worried for months. Now I am satisfied:)
January 6th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
New Year – New Chances to Earn Points!
We value your opinions and think that you should be rewarded for sharing them within our surveys. Accordingly, SurveySpot is pleased to announce a new rewards promotion which will run in the month of January.
Every time you qualify for and complete a survey between January 4th and January 31st, we will award you 50 points! As always, the points will be added to your SurveySpot account, where you can redeem them for cash using PayPal.
January 6th, 2010 at 6:28 pm
Yay! I too have been paid! They put $12 in my account for the old system. They paid me for all but one old survey, worth a dollar. However, they paid me for 3 $1.00 surveys I thought I had already cashed out, so my guess is they couldn’t find the one I was talking about (I never used to record survey #s, only the topic, now I know better!) and just paid me for three older ones or something. Either way I am happy and wont complain about the missing one. They still haven’t contacted me about the $7 check I never recieved or the 500 point survey taken on 11/22, but I figure they are probablt looking into the check (to make sure I really never got and cashed it) and the 500 points may still be pending. I am very happy.
January 13th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Yes finally survey spot is back. I too noticed I had $3.00 in the old system that I requested a check for yesterday. But I have no idea where the money came from because the last time I cashed in was only $5 unless this was right at the time that changed. My points are showing up and also have recieved the 50 points for the January special surveys. Hopefully we will all have a better year with survey spot if I can keep up with all the surveys they send me daily.
January 20th, 2010 at 8:55 am
I agree that things are a little slower, but so was it when they did not use the point system, matter of fact much slower — case in point –
My first payout came 1/18/2010, when a good number of my rewards were posted. I took them early January. I had $15.00 to claim. I used PAYPAL and believe it or not after hitting enter I was instantly paid. Now this is a very good thing. Give them time and I am sure the kinks will be worked out.
January 21st, 2010 at 1:55 pm
They finally contacted me back today about that $7.00 check I never recieved. They have canceled the old one and are putting the $7.00 in my old rewards account so I can cash it out! Now if they would just start offering surveys for more than 50 cents, I would be ecstatic.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
IM TRY ING TO GET TO MY ACCOUNT & EACH TIME I DO THEY DONt ACCEPT MY SIGN-IN
May 28th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
The first time I cashed out my points on the new system with Survey Spot, it should never have been approved and gone through in the first place. I have multiple Paypal accounts and when prompted to log into my Paypal to collect my points, I of course used my most often used Paypa login. It approved it , BUT put it into my Paypal account associated with the email address used for my Survey Spot account. This is a huge No NO and I do not know how it happened. Ever since then, for over a month, I have not been able to cash in my points. They are giving me the supreme run around and I do not even get a response sometimes for weeks at a time. There is no number to call unless you check them out through the BBB. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and plan on calling the number next week.
June 26th, 2010 at 6:52 pm
i too have had all kinds of truble with survey spot. i also quit taking the nonpaying surveys because they never creditrd my account with any of the ones for points or cash. once i did this over a period of two weeks they cancellrd my account with out any notification that they would do this if i did’t start taking their surveys. in my opinion it was the best thing they could of did, noe it opens up my time for the survey companies that do want my opinons, and do what they say their going to do.
