Does the contest run from midnight 2400 EST on January 8, 2009 until midnight 2400 EST on February 8, 2009? I am already plotting my strategy…
Edited above post.

The contest starts now, Lee! But don’t expect the winners to be announced at midnight on Feb. 8th, I need my beauty sleep and am too old to pull an all-nighter

OK. I know that I just posted this yesterday, but I like to start off every contest with my ‘Surveys That Pay!’ list so that people can know what to expect from me during the contest period. I will be posting my Top Ten Surveys both here and on the forum and updating my earnings under each individual thread. For the survey sites that I have unsubscribed from, I will give a brief review with the reasons why I chose to do so. Let the games begin!
I started keeping meticulous records of my paid online survey taking on January 31, 2008. It has been over eleven months since I started taking paid online surveys. I spend an average of two to four hours per day taking surveys. Here are the amounts that I have earned from 35 paid online survey sites.
My own situation breaks down like this: I have earned $2214.20 in eleven months from 34 survey sites and one GPT site, which is $201.29 per month. My actual receipts are $1906.60, which is $173.33 per month. About 15% of my earnings are from product trials and Invoke Interactives.

Top Ten Surveys
Post your top ten favorite survey sites and give a few reasons why you like them.
1. SurveySpot $326.80 ($5 po) (Invokes) ($306.80 received – rec’d) ($20 req’d)
SurveySpot is my Number One favorite survey site because: 1) they have paid me the most money, 2) their surveys are frequent and arrive daily, 3) they are accurate in their estimated times of completion, 4) their payments arrive by check in four to eight weeks, 5) they resolve all disputes quickly and even give you the incentive for any survey that you failed to complete for most reasons if you email them with the survey number, 6) they have a large number of interactive panels, 7) they offer paid product trials and
they do not use OTX. SurveySpot is now considering offering PayPal, which would make them perfect in every way.
2. Opinion Outpost $181.00 ($5 po) ($169.80 rec’d) ($10.50 req’d)
Opinion Outpost is a solid Number Two favorite survey site because: 1) No other survey site comes close other than SurveySpot, 2) they send paid surveys frequently, 3) their screening process is excellent so I qualify for most surveys and 4) they compensate you fairly for your time.
3. YourFreeSurveys $155.00 ($30 po) (PayPal) ($155.00 rec’d) ($35 from contests)
I am biased in favor of YourFreeSurveys because I am a moderator on their forum and compensated for that, but they do have daily surveys for $1.05 (OTX) and $0.90 (GiveUsYour2Cents), send occasional surveys that pay and hold frequent contests for $200-300, which I have won twice. They also offer PayPal, which means fast payments. They also have Heath, who runs this blog and also moderates the YFS forum. All of these are big plus marks to consider in addition to the monetary incentives.
http://www.yourfreesurveys.com/forum/
4. Global Test Market $154.00 (1000 = $50) ($10 po) ($104.00 rec’d) ($50 req’d)
GTM is definately one of the best points sites out there, after Opinion Outpost, and you can earn a lot of money with them. The $10 pay out point is reasonable and they compensate you fairly for your time. I receive two to three surveys per week and qualify for most. I am expecting another $50 check from them that will move them up on my list.
5. SendEarnings $131.59 ($30 po) ($95.34 rec’d) ($9 processing fee for three payments)
8. InboxDollars $83.00 ($30 po) ($58.20 rec’d) ($6 processing fees for two payments)
Both of these entries comprise my #5 and #8 best survey companies. Both InboxDollars and SendEarnings are owned by Cotter-Web and administered by Greenfield Online; however, they are basically the same so I listed them together. They are essentially trial offer sites, but you can also make a fair amount of money just from taking daily $0.50 surveys. Forget about clicking on emails for $0.02 each because that only amounts to about $1 extra per month for each site. You can also make money playing games and from referrals, but the games take too long to earn a pay out and referrals seem like spam to me. No one likes the $3 processing fee or waiting a month for the first check to be ‘processed’, but once you are a Gold Member they process your check in one week. The $30 pay out minimum is also too high. I am seriously beginning to wonder if it is necessary to be a member of both of these sites since they both offer essentially the same surveys and offers.
6. Greenfield Online $99.50 (PayPal) (Invokes) ($98.50 rec’d)
In spite of all of the problems that Greenfield forum members bicker over about non-payments, not qualifying for surveys, not being compensated enough, etc. Greenfield offers the second most number of Invoke Interactive panels of any survey company and no one forces you to take any of their surveys for a sweepstakes entry. They also offer PayPal, which is a much faster method of receiving payments and they have no minimum pay out point. I only know of one other survey company (YFS) that offers an active forum where you can air your grievances and where there is a dedicated moderator to actively answer your questions on a personal basis in a timely fashion. Every other survey company uses email to address disputes. And her name is Angela at amartin@greenfield.com
Here is my most recent complaint about GFO:
I haven’t been doing enough GFO surveys to qualify for anything since August 8, when I was credited for a $25 Invoke Interactive that I had done several months prior, except for two $1 surveys in August, three $1 surveys in September and two $1 surveys in October. I think GFO’s strategy is to ensure that only people who spend two to three hours per day doing their surveys exclusively will benefit from them the most, or maybe there has just been a dry spell for the past two or three months for me. I did much better the first six months when I was getting 29-104 sweepstakes entries then the past two months when I am averaging less than 20 sweepstakes entries per two week period. I’ve clicked on every paying survey within the first 24 hours, but every time I click ‘Yes’ I am disqualified. I still like the forum though.
7. Valued Opinions $88.65 ($20 po) (Amazon gift certificates) ($60 rec’d)
If you like Amazon gift certificates then you will like Valued Opinions as you can earn them faster here than anywhere else. ClearVoice is the only other purveyor of Amazon GCs that even comes close.
9. Survey Savvy $80.00 ($43.50 rec’d) ($34.50 req’d)
Surprisingly, SurveySavvy has knocked ACOP off the Top Ten list this month. They don’t off that many surveys, but they pay very well, plus they have product tests for $10-20. They are a bit slow in sending checks, but I think they legitimately belong here.
10. Daily Survey Panel $75.50 (1000 = $10) (PayPal) ($75.50 rec’d)
This company is really growing on me. You get daily email invitations and depending on how many other sites you are a member of that also use OTX (Greenfield Online, GlobalTestMarket, Mindfield, OpinionOutpost and YourFreeSurveys) and GiveUsYour2Cents (Quick Rewards [the owner of the DSP site] and YourFreeSurveys) you will be able to earn up to $1.85 per day or more. They now give you 5 poinhts just for attempting their OTX surveys.

Maybe my math is off, but when I add up the prizes :
1 – $75 + 2 – $50 = $175 + 3 – $25 = $250 + 5 – $10 = $300 + 10 – $5 = $350!! Is it really the $350 Blog contest or is there a typo somewhere in the # of prizes?
January 9th, 2009 at 12:22 am
Oh dear…typo or math challenged. It should have been 1 $50 prize. Now I need to decide what to do about it. I’ll post the correction tomorrow. Thanks for catching the error for me. Heath

OK, i wanted to read all 32 (that were listed as i read this), of the posts before i asked the same question that Nicole did [by the way Nicole, i absolutely love that name :0) ]
Here is Nicole’s post:
Nicole Says:
“January 8th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
Maybe my math is off, but when I add up the prizes :
1 – $75 + 2 – $50 = $175 + 3 – $25 = $250 + 5 – $10 = $300 + 10 – $5 = $350!! Is it really the $350 Blog contest or is there a typo somewhere in the # of prizes?”
32 posts at the time i read this, and i saw the same thing that Nicole did…and since i ALWAYS got A’s in math (even through trig and calculus, lol), i caught this as soon as i read the original email.
It does add up to $350.00.
So is this a typo in the numbers of winners?
Or a typo in the amounts that each of the winners will receive?
Enquiring minds NEED to know!
January 9th, 2009 at 6:49 am
I guess Nicole and I are the only “forumeers” that know how to count?
Well, i guess Lee New knows how to count as well.
I double-checked his math just to make sure.
I thought i was going to be the first one to catch the “error”, but Nicole beat me to it…and i’ll get ‘er for it too!
January 9th, 2009 at 7:00 am
While perusing Lee New’s post about his income, i drooled on my keyboard.
I’m doing ok, for someone who started doing online surveys on April 1st, 2008 (fitting date, don’t ya’ think?…lol), but i’m only making a “drizzle” of income, and i really need to be making much more…a “downpour” so to speak.
I need a “rain-maker.”
If anyone has any info about making MUCH more $$$$$$, PLEASE!, help out a poor disabled guy (going for the sympathy affect here…lol),…i could REALLY use the extra income. Can’t we all?
I’ll share anything i have learned with those who share what they have learned with me.
My input may not be much, but i’ll do & give it the ol’ college try, e.g., my best effort.
Thanks in advance for any tidbits you are willing to share.
footnote inquiry:
Do these 3 or 4 posts count as part of my Blog Contest entries?
God Bless ALL!
Have a happy…………………’__________’

as i typed this, yet another GTM invite came to my email, and (you guessed it), it was closed….quota filled.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:16 am
ah yes, i almost forgot.
Back on July 30th, 2008, i was surprise one morning by a $50.00 deposit into my PayPal account, from Survey Sampling International! (which i do believe is Survey Spot?)
Just thought i’d send along this little bit of info.
At least now you know that someone does actually win those sweeps drawings from time to time.

I am also disabled, but if you are willing to spend two to four hours per day taking paid online surveys you can make $200-300 per month within about a year. I started on January 31, 2008. For more information on how it is done, check out the YourFreeSurvey’s forum here:

You are clearly blowing me away with YourFreeSurveys ($505 to $155 – thanks to your $200 contest win!) and PineconeResearch ($129 to $48), but I have a substantial advantage over you with SurveySpot ($326 to $179) and SendEarnings ($131 to $27). I’d say we are fairly neck-to-neck for the other sites, although I see OpinionPlace has done very well for you and I haven’t done anything with them ($92).
One question: I see SendEarnings, but where is your InboxDollars earnings? I am also curious about Platinum Lounge; you have done very well there also. I am not worried about all of the free stuff that I have earned or books and DVDs that I got with points. I don’t count those.

lee, my yfs is high cuz of the forum moderator job… u re not countin that but I DO COUNT everything i ve made online, no matter where it comes from!
i havent cashed out from inbox yet and i m far away from it!!!
platinum lounge is a PAY TO POST site
i log in ONCE daily 2 keep my ranking and get paid!
i write down the date next 2 opinion place bookmark in myfavorites so i log in when i m allowed to!
January 10th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
Thanks for the clarification Maria. The reason that I do not count YFS forum moderator compensation as part of my survey earnings is because it’s not from survey or contest receipts and it gives an inaccurate view of how much someone can earn from being a member of YFS. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

I just subscribe to the blog by email in order to receive one sweepstake entry… I was signed up to that in past to receive entry to previous contest but I unsubscribed after the contest ended. I really don’t need this email thing since I have the YFS RSS Feed which is a lot more conveint and easier to use…

I will also post my thoughts on e-Rewards here until Heath reviews them. E-Rewards has short easy surveys that add up quickly, however, the only two prizes that I am interested in are the two pre-viewed DVDs from Blockbuster for $25 that can only be redeemed once every six months and the $25 in Border Dollars that can be used at Borders.com after you have registered and received a Borders Reward card. You get the Reward card after you buy something at Borders.com or request one from customer service, which arrives in about two weeks by mail. You can only used the Borders Dollars prize every six months also. The only other choices are Buy-something-and-get-X dollars-off, frequent flyer miles or magazine subscriptions.

I see some talk about e-rewards so I thought I’d add my experience. I’ve been a member for well over a year, but mine was through Upromise and all I can earn is money in my Upromise account. So far I’ve cashed out $50 to go into my Upromise account, which was $100 e-reward dollars. I’m happy with that since ultimately we are saving for our children’s college, this just forced me to put it away. I really like them, the surveys are easy and a lot of them aren’t too long and they pay pretty good.

I’m new to this and am very confused! someone please help me I want free money I don’t have paypal. I barley know how to type. when I’ve tried to do surveys in the past they always wated me to buy something and I can’t do that I’ on disability
January 31st, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Hey pammie,
If you are new to this survey world, then the first move is to sign up with PayPal at http://www.paypal.com You can create your won FREE account in less than 5 minutes. The second move you should do is sign up with SUrvey Spot and Opinion Outpost. Those two are the most favorable sites and most rewarding. Then you can choose to register to other legitimate sites that are listed at wwww.yourfreesurveys.com/forum I suggest you don’t register for more that 10 sites at the same time. You can register again to other legitimate sites as time elapses. And remember you should NEVER PAY to participate in an online survey… For more useful information visit the YourFreeSurveys Forum

He Pammie,
I have been taking surveys for a very long time. There are some good free survey sites out there and it just takes time to find the right one. Keep looking. The right one for you is out there.
February 1st, 2009 at 11:58 am
Maplaver,
Many of the people don’t understand how these things work. Have some patience, huh? Try to help them and quit being a wet blanket.
February 1st, 2009 at 12:00 pm
Dee V,
I would like to suggest surveyspot or harris poll online. I have taken many survery for these sites and they are good. Also you might want to try esearch. I did a 6-week trial of tissues and I made $50!!
February 1st, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I reccomend these:
1. SurveySpot $351.80 ($5 po) (Invokes) ($326.80 received – rec’d) ($25.00 req’d)
2. Opinion Outpost $181.00 ($5 po) ($181.00 rec’d)
They also have Heath, who moderates runs the YFS blog. All of these are big plus marks to consider in addition to the monetary incentives.
4. Global Test Market $154.00 (1000 = $50) ($10 po) ($154.00 rec’d)
GTM is definately one of the best points sites out there, after Opinion Outpost, and you can earn a lot of money with them. The 1000 point $50 pay out point is reasonable and they compensate you fairly for your time. I receive two to three surveys per week and qualify for most. I am expecting another $50 check from them that will move them up on my list.
5. SendEarnings $131.59 ($30 po) ($95.34 rec’d) ($9 processing fee for three payments)
9. InboxDollars $83.00 ($30 po) ($58.20 rec’d) ($6 processing fees for two payments)
Both of these entries comprise my #5 and #9 best survey companies.
7. Greenfield Online $98.50 (PayPal) (Invokes) ($98.50 rec’d)
8. Valued Opinions $88.65 ($20 po) (Amazon gift certificates – gc) ($60 rec’d)
If you like Amazon gift certificates then you will like Valued Opinions as you can earn them faster here than anywhere else. ClearVoice is the only other purveyor of Amazon GCs that even comes close.
They now give you 5 points just for attempting their OTX surveys.
10. HCD $62.60 ($10 po) (1000 = $10 po) ($62.60 rec’d)
A very consistent earner with short surveys on political subjects and other current affairs, like the Superbowl ads survey they are running later today. Most surveys pay at least 100 points and their points system is the easiest to remember.

That’s awesome Maria! I hope Heath is able to sort out the many different names that you use to post here when she tabulates the contest results.
I just wanted to add another tidbit about e-Rewards until Heath has a chance to review them. I do not like their prizes at all. First, I got two previously-viewed DVDs for $25 in e-Dollars from Blockbuster and I cannot get that prize again for six months and now I redeemed $15 in Borders Dollars and I cannot redeem THAT prize again until the beginning of the next calendar year! Magazines, Frequent Flyer Miles and $$$ off your purchase at various places that I never shop, like Omaha Steaks, are the only prizes left!
Dear Lee,
Thank you for participating in e-Rewards(R), the program that rewards you for participating in online surveys that have been selected to match your unique interests.
Your Reward is $15 in Borders Bucks.
Fifteen Dollars ($15) in Borders Bucks will be issued to your Borders Rewards account. They will be available for redemption the entire month after the month in which you exchange your e-Rewards Currency for Borders Bucks.
**********************************************************
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
You must be a member of the Borders Rewards program to receive this reward! Fifteen Dollars ($15) in Borders Bucks will be issued to your Borders Rewards account. They will be available for redemption the entire month after the month in which you exchange your e-Rewards Currency for Borders Bucks. I would like to say how overwhelmingly impressed I am with the amount of work that has gone into this site. I plunged into the survey world several years ago and did all the wrong things and bored myself silly. Worse still, I couldn’t manage to secure a relationship between my effort and my financial intake. So I stopped.
Years have gone by and I have discovered this particular place — wow. It takes the hard work out of finding the sort of companies that aren’t tacky and ready to rip YOU (me too!) off. This site is very useful, and I do truly appreciate the effort that’s obviously gone into the R&D. Thank you! Julie B.

Good luck to everyone on the last day of the Your Free Surveys $300 contest! I have posted diligently three times every day on both the blog and forum, except for January 25, when my girlfrien from pHoenix was visiting. I would like to take this opportunity to post my latest new format of Surveys That Pay!, where I have eliminated some under-producing survey sites from tracking and added the dates of when I joined most sites.
I started keeping records of my paid online surveys January 31, 2008. It has been 12 months since I started. I spend an average of two to three hours per day taking surveys. Here are the amounts that I have earned from 30 paid online survey sites.
I have earned $2150.17 in 12 months from 30 survey sites, which is $179.18 per month. My actual receipts are $1997.64, which is $166.47 per month. The average survey site earned $5.97, but that does not take into account how recently I joined some sites, so I predict that this number will go up dramatically.
I have added the dates that I joined each site. About 15% of my earnings are from product trials and Invoke Interactives. Keep in mind that many of these survey sites were not joined in the first month. I just joined Viewpoint last month. I also removed five under-producing survey sites that earned me $150 last year year. I did not unsubscribe, but will no longer track them. $100.06 of that was from Tik Tik Cash, a trial offer site, which I did unsubscribe from.

Finally, my Top Ten Surveys!
I recommend these:
1. SurveySpot $351.80 ($5 po) (Invokes) (Joined: 2008-01-30) ($351.80 received – rec’d)
SurveySpot is my Number One favorite survey site because: 1) they have paid me the most money, 2) their surveys are frequent and arrive daily, 3) they are accurate in their estimated times of completion, 4) their payments arrive by check in four to six weeks, 5) they resolve all disputes quickly and even give you the incentive for any survey that you failed to complete for most reasons if you email them with the survey number, 6) they have a lot number of interactive panels, 7) they offer paid product trials and
they do not use OTX. SurveySpot is now considering offering PayPal, which would make them perfect in every way.
2. Opinion Outpost $194.20 ($5 po) (2008-02-04) ($181.00 rec’d) ($10.20 req’d)
Opinion Outpost is my solid Number Two favorite survey site because: 1) No other survey site comes close other than SurveySpot, 2) they send paid surveys frequently, 3) their screening process is excellent so I qualify for most surveys and 4) they compensate you fairly for your time.
3. YourFreeSurveys $168.85 ($30 po) (PayPal) ($155.00 rec’d) ($35 from contests)
They hold frequent contests for $200-300. They also have Heath, who moderates runs the YFS blog. All of these are big plus marks to consider in addition to the monetary incentives.
4. Global Test Market $154.00 (1000 = $50) ($10 po) ($154.00 rec’d)
GTM is definately one of the best points sites out there after Opinion Outpost and you can earn a lot of money with them. The 1000 point $50 pay out point is reasonable and they compensate you fairly for your time. I receive two to three surveys per week and qualify for most. I am expecting another $50 check from them that will move them up on my list.
5. Greenfield Online $98.50 (PayPal) (Invokes) (2008-02-13) ($98.50 rec’d)
6. SendEarnings $94.04 ($30 po) (2008-02-15) ($82.34 rec’d) ($9 processing fee for three payments)
7. InboxDollars $88.33 ($30 po) (2008-02-15) ($58.20 rec’d) ($6 processing fees for two payments)
Both of these entries comprise my #6 and #7 best survey companies. Both InboxDollars and SendEarnings are owned by Cotter-Web and administered by Greenfield Online; however, they are basically the same so I list them together. They are essentially trial offer sites, but you can also make a fair amount of money just from taking daily $0.50 surveys. Forget about clicking on emails for $0.02 each because that only amounts to about $1-2 extra per month for each site.
8. Valued Opinions $81.35 ($20 po) (Amazon gift certificates – gc) (2008-02-18) ($60 rec’d)
If you like Amazon gift certificates then you will like Valued Opinions as you can earn them faster here than anywhere else. Nothing else even comes close.
10. Daily Survey Panel $75.50 (1000 = $10) (PayPal) (2008-06-08) ($75.50 rec’d)
They now give you 5 points just for attempting their OTX surveys.

Ooops!
10. HCD $74.90 ($10 po) (1000 = $10 po) ($62.60 rec’d) ($12.30 req’d)
A very consistent earner with short surveys on political subjects, Superbowl commercials and other interesting and topical subjects. Most surveys pay at least 100 points and their points system is the easiest to remember.

lee, why 2 #10?
February 9th, 2009 at 10:58 am
I accidentally skipped #9 in my first post and inadvertently only named nine of my Top Ten survey sites, so I thought I would add #10 just to round out my ‘official’ end of contest Top Ten list. Any more questions?
February 17th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
As far as i’m aware DSP has stopped giving the 5 pts. for attempting otx or any other surveys. Thats why i quit going there. Well that and there are to many places that pay more than 60 cents for OTX surverys.
