Survey Spot: Another Top 25
Survey Site Reviews January 21st, 2008Another NC snowstorm has come and gone over the week-end, as usual, we were promised 5 inches and got “a dusting”. I think I’m going to move to Minnesota!
surveys make me want to dance!
]
I joined Survey Spot about a week ago, and have gotten 3 surveys from them so far (every other day). I’ve taken all 3 which included TV programming, women’s issues and food. Each of them took about 15 or 20 minutes to complete. The grapics are very high tech and easy to navigate, making it more fun to take than some of the others with text only, redundant questions. Taking these surveys will enter you into an instant win game and also a sweepstakes entry. I was a little concerned because I had read that they pay cash as well, so I wrote to customer service to see if any of the surveys pay cash. I received this response within 24 hours:
SurveySpot does not pay members for each survey. If there’s a survey available for you to take, we will send you an invitation to participate, where we always describe the reward offered.
Some surveys offer payments in addition to the prize drawing entry. Your account history will not reflect entries into the drawing, only payments earned. SurveySpot doesn’t offer points for surveys.
It’s always your choice to participate and we hope you’ll enjoy taking some SurveySpot surveys without a direct payment. Online surveys can be fun and your opinions are important in helping shape the products and services of the future.
I’m assuming that the more surveys you take, the better chance of getting the better paying surveys. I’ll keep you posted. The good news about paid online surveys is that you can take the ones that you want to and ignore the rest and it doesn’t cost you a thing!

this is an okay site that even my kids take some surveys from time to time. this is a paying site and i have received over 6 checks from them which all of them was over 5.00 each.
April 15th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Today I request a $116 check from Survey Spot. This check has been adding up since December of last year when I took a $5 dollar survey about household products and services. I should receive my check in six weeks. When I get my check I will post a comment here.
P.S. I also requested $20 from Opinion Outpost. Hopefully I will get my check in the next couple of weeks.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Today I did an interactive survey with them.
They made me install a program that would allow that survey to happen (hopefully that’s all it does).
I made $3 giving my opinion about some pics.
It had a moderator who asked the questions.
It lasted like 20 min.
IT WAS INTERESTING AND WAY MORE FUN THAN OTHER SURVEYS
April 26th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Survey Spot is one of the most reliable paid online survey companies and the longer you are with them the greater your opportunities for cash-paying surveys and interactive forums are.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
I agree Lee. Survey Spot it my #1 survey site in terms of money made. I requested a check from them (see comment 2) and I’m very excited about it. I take every survey they invite me to even if it’s not a paided one. That is probably why I receive at least one paided each day.
And yeah interactive surveys are the best kind of survey you can take. They are very easy to complete and are fun to take because you can express your opinions to a live person.
May 2nd, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Today I received the $116 check I requested back on April 15. It took them a little over two weeks for me to get their check. That is a lot better than the six weeks, thats how long they said it would take.
The check was kind of hard to open because I had to remove two edges first then “fold, crease and tear the stub along perforation.” I didn’t want to accidentally rip my check by the edges so I carefully and slowly took of these edges. Inside the envelope was a message that said:
Congratulations from Survey Spot
Thank you for sharing your opinions- what you think really matters. As part of the Survey Spot community, you are helping to shape products and services of the future. Now, we’d like to ask you to help us expand our membership. Tell your friends and family to join the SurveySpot community and they can become winners too!
To the left of this statement their was the logo dog and he was on top of a paper airplane.
I still can’t believe I got this check. Survey Spot is still my favorite survey Panel and yeah it’s better that Pinecone Research in some ways.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:15 am
I just made $3 on a survey about the NY RED BULLS SOCCER TEAM.
I shouldn’t have qualify 4 it ’cause I replied that I HAVEN’T GONE NOR WILL GO EVER to any of the games this season or any other and still got all the questions!!!
I made up the rest of answers ’cause I don’t know them
May 6th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Congrats on making a easy $3. I’m also not a fan of soccer, I prefer baseball, but I wouldn’t mind taking a $3 survey about that sport even if it means giving them biased answers. Be very carefully when taking a survey that you shoundn’t have qualified for because sometimes survey company make a question that requires you to read it. If you answer this question the wrong way the you will LOSS your $3.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Today I logged in to my SurveySpot account. The first thing I saw in their websit was a FRAUD WARNING. I think every who is member of their panel should read it. Here is the message:
FRAUD WARNING
We are aware that in recent weeks the SurveySpot likeness has been used fraudulently. If you have received any mailed correspondence with the SurveySpot/Survey Sampling International logo which includes an unexpected check and/or instructions to send a MoneyGram, wire transfer or other form of payment to anyone, please do not attempt to cash the check , send any money or follow through with any other procedure outlined in the letter. This correspondence did not come from SurveySpot, and it is not a valid offer. SSI and SurveySpot never ask respondents, panelists or job applicants to send money or make any payment or funds transfer of any kind.
If you were contacted in this manner, we strongly urge you to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and/or the United States Postal Service.
When I logged in to my account, I saw that I had new unclaimed rewards. As of now I have $32 on my account and that is not including the $13 I earned from them today. SurveySpot is my number ONE survey site. 1(9)
May 8th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Eddie, how long do you think it took you to rack up that $116 check from SurveySpot? Just curious. That’s a nice haul.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Well todays your luck day! I happened to save all the surveys I took from SurveySpot in a text file before I requested my check. The first paided survey I took from them was on 12/10/07 and I earned $5. The last survey I took from them that was paided in the check I recently got in the mail was for $3 and I took it on 3/18/08. So it took me a little more than three months to rack up the $116 check. So there you go that the answer to your question. IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!! 2(1)
May 9th, 2008 at 10:23 am
EDDIE,
Thanks 4 the FRAUD WARNING. Is good 2 know this
Well, I can see y SURVEYSPOT is ur #1… they really like u… u’ve made so much money with them in so little time. $116 in 3 months is AMAZING… congrats
With them I’ve made:
$6 received
$8 requested
$12 unclaimed rewards
TOTAL $26
Nothing like urs, but still SURVEYSPOT keeps the $ coming
May 12th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Yep its true Survey Spot is my number 1 survey site. And to prove it, I’m going to talk about a really easy $3 survey I took from them.
Today I got a $3 survey that was about golf. They said the survey would take 5 minutes, but I think it took me a little more than that. I was surprised I still qualified for this survey after I told them I wasn’t a golf fan. To me golf is the a boring sport that shouldn’t even be called a sport. Well the survey asked about golf sponsorship something I know NOTHING about. It then asked me if I knew about Shell sponsoring a golf tournament in my area. Of course I didn’t know nothing about this either.
This survey was a easy and fast $3 that proves Survey Spot is at the top of its GAME. 6(4)

hahaha like my soccer survey I shouldn’t have qualified 4!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 12:10 am
I received a check for $25 from SurveySpot that I requested on April 1. They are rapidly becoming one of my very favorite survey sites.
May 15th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Yesterday I received my 2nd check from them.
It was $8 and my 1st was $6.
Now I’m waiting 4 a check of $12.
I always cash out AS SOON AS I’m able 2/reach the min. amount ’cause I NEED IT INMEDIATELY!!!
June 2nd, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Today I got an email invite from SurveySpot to participate in a special focus group. The email subject was “A good chance at a THIRTY DOLLAR FOCUS GROUP”. I got this email at 3:53 PM today but I clicked the link at about 8 PM. I completed the electronics survey and I did’t qualify not because I didn’t meet the required demograpics but because they already had enough respondents that answered like I did. Today I also missed a HCD survey because of the same reason. The survey was for 50 points. In the survey invite this IMPORTANT message was visible “This survey will close within the next 4 hours or sooner. Therefore, we ask that you respond as quickly as possible.” That says it all!!!!
Their is a VERY valuable lesson in this experience and that is to check your email constantly to see if you got paided survey. If you don’t do this then you might have missed a $30 survey. When you see a survey invite in your email, click on the link AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to Maximize your chances of qualifing and don’t wait to for hours later to do this either. So the moral of the story is take all surveys AS SOON AS YOU SEE THEM.

If you want to be paid, dont hold your breath. Sure they will pay $1 to a couple of hundred people who “qualify” but they are more interested in the thousands of people who try to take the survey and dont get through the control questions.
Control questions in any research sample are asked to classify data in relation to the populus. Things like Age, Sex, geograpical area. In ethical research they are limited to questions to classify the subjects and no more.
Surveyspot does something a little different. Their control questions also contain research questions for their clients. They offer their clients two levels of research, Level I–Survey data that is asked with the control questions: thousands people who ask 4 or 5 product questions without knowing they are providing data. Level II–The actual survey, hundreds of people who make the N for the survey and make this look legitimate. In essence, they say they will offer you $$ but they steal level I data from everyone.
Most souls will answer 5 to 15 questions for free without realizing that they are giving the Level I data Surveyspot is seeking. They wont qualify for payment but they happily deliver the data, spending hours of time, hoping for that one time that becomes a hit.
Want an example? They have surveys for Nielson ratings, promise $5 in exchange for watching a 1/2 hour TV show. There are a few control questions in the beginning, the show is illustrated then, they ask one or two more. After you spend 45 minutes with them, they will say “were sorry you didnt qualify to complete the survey……” But you did! You just filled out 20 questions about the television show that had nothing to do with control questions….You just gave ‘em level 1..
The valuable data they are seeking is not from the 100 or 200 who get paid for the survey, but the mounds of fools who try again and again and again to get paid for a survey hoping this one will work.
Its an illusion. It does work in the beginning, the need to hook you in. I got two or three $25 checks from them in the first month or so. After that, its all downhill.

Right now I’m looking at a Survey Spot email invite that I will definitely qualify for useless I lie to C&R which is something I’m not doing since I have important things to do.
Here is the email invitation:
C&R Research, a marketing research firm in Chicago, IL, is inviting consumers to participate in a brief marketing research survey. We are targeting 8-12 year-old girls for this survey, and are asking that you please have your 8-12 year-old daughter complete this survey.
I don’t know why they send me this invite since my profile I filled out when I joined their site does not fit this study. This is not the only time have sent an invite like this. I guess I will have to review my profile avoid this kinds of emails. 1(2)

To a certain extent, I agree with what Steve says in Post #25; however, it has been my experience that SurveySpot more than fairly compensates me for the data they collect both from the ‘Level 1′ questions from surveys that I am disqualfied from and from the surveys completed for a sweepstakes chance. They offer either five, 25 or 100 sweepstakes entries, but I don’t know of anyone that has won yet. The checks arrive in about two or three weeks, but if they had Paypal then SurveySpot would be the perfect survey site for me.
To show how very good SurveySpot has been to me I am posting my survey payment history.

Is there a Paid Survey that I can join that really pays good & sends a check to my house? I’m out of work due the company “down sizing” to the point of closing our store. This happened 10/10/08 & unemployment has not paid yet. I’m looking for something I can do full time & get paid decent pay. It’s not easy to find a job when you get “older”. Which surveys are scams & which are not?
November 18th, 2008 at 9:49 am
albert, read all the reviews and u ll get 2 decide which sites 2 join or not. also come 2 our forum http://www.yourfreesurveys.com/forum/

Survey Spot sends me several surveys a day. The ones that pay are already closed by the time I click on them. I now just delete these surveys if I don’t have time to do them. I do however keep registered with them becasue I have done several surveys that have led to product trials.

I’m glad i read this because i got junk from surveyspot as steve wrote about in aug. so i wrote them a nasty letter about wasting my time and to cancel me from their “scam” but now i feel stupid especially with the luck lee is having with them. Maybe i’ll eat some crow and try to sneak my way back in
.i’ll let ya know how it goes

Hi Lee,
You recently completed a study about body wash, but due to a technical error, you were asked to respond to questions that may or may not have been applicable to you. If you could, we would realty appreciate it if you could take the survey again. For your opinion to count, we need to ask you the correct questions, which weren’t included the last time. For the inconvenience, you will receive $2 if you complete this survey. We hope you enjoyed the product, and we look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!

I noticed that comment 35 and 36 are exactly the same thing… That is a little repetetive if you ask me.. the idea is to post new or updated information that can be helpful to others. I guess it’s this contest thing that caused this…

Post #35 was mislabeled with the wrong post number and I reposted it assuming that Heath would delete the duplicate post as she had done previously. Sorry for my mistake. It’s my understanding that only three posts per day count as one contest entry and I made four that day including the duplicate so there should be nothing to get alarmed about. Sorry again for the confusion!

I’m wondering if anyone has won any of the sweepstakes “prizes”? I have been answering surveys now for Survey Spot for two months and have not gotten any cash surveys. Similar to Steve’s scenario above I’ve had a few surveys, one in particular, where I spent 45 minutes on a movie survey, answering questions and watching clips only to be told after the 45 minutes that I did not qualify. That seems so wrong to me! I have spent many 20 -30 minute surveys now only to be told at the end that I don’t qualify. I read ya’ll’s comments and want to hang in there thinking that they will start sending me some cash surveys, but I don’t know……how long did it take you to start getting the cash surveys?
February 25th, 2009 at 10:20 am
i got them soon and i never did the surveys for sweepstakes cuz i personally see that as a waste of time… u could try stopping those surveys and just wait for the paid ones 2 fill ur inbox!
