Reward TV: Can you earn enough? A Review
Advice, Survey Site Reviews, Uncategorized April 28th, 2008I joined Reward TV about a month ago through a Yourfreesurveys evaluation survey, as many of you may have. It was easy to join, and the concept was appealing. I love watching TV and movies, so answering trivia questions for points sounded like fun.
The verdict on this one is as follows. It is fun to play the games. If you are a trivia buff, you’ll find loads of stuff to keep you occupied. I found it to be entertaining. There are plenty of sweepstakes entries for your trouble. So if you are feeling lucky, then by all means, you should join this site. If, however, you want to be paid in cash or gift certificates for your trouble, you may be barking up the wrong tree.
The good news about Reward TV is that you can earn a gazillion points without much effort. The problem with it is that you have to bid on the rewards. On certain days, rewards go up for bids, and apparently there are so many people trying to bid for them that the value of your points drops considerably. The other way to redeem your points is by a “shopping spree” at a certain time. For instance, there is a Pier 1 $10 gift card “on sale” April 29th at 5PM. If you aren’t available at that particular time, you may as well forget about having a chance at it. That doesn’t mean that if you are rip roaring and ready to go that you’ll get it either. There are so many people trying to get so few rewards at one time that it’s nearly impossible to find a way to redeem the points that you do have. Maybe I’m just slow, but I’d love to hear from any of you who have successfully gotten a reward!
I’m an American Idol nut. Can’t wait for the new season to start, hate when it ends. As you’ll see in this video, Britain has plenty of talent as well. This is the winner from the last season of Britain’s Got Talent, and with 23 million views, it may be that you’ve already seen it. It’s my favorite of all time, and it’s even better the second time!
Don’t forget about our blog contest. We will be giving away $200 on May 15th. Enter today by commenting on this blog (3 comments=1 entry), blog about this blog (1 entry) or subscribing to the blog either by email or RSS feed (1 entry). The more entries you have, the better chance of winning!

I have been a member of Reward TV October 2006. I joined when I was sent a MyPoints email that said I would get 100 points added to my account if I registered with them. I said why not, a 100 points wouldn’t hurt. I started to plat the trivia games once in a while and only play 2 to of the 5 max that you are allowed to play. When now I’m a really experienced with their question system and know a few legal tricks to maximize the number of points I receive in the games. This has really payed out a lot of points. I currently have 5,308,200 in my Reward TV account and so far today I have earned 11,100 and I still have several sports show games to play. I visit Reward TV every day play the 5 games each but on Sundays and Mondays I play more than 5 games because of the Sport shows that are on early in the afternoon. Now just because I playing the game doesn’t mean I watched the show. In these types of games, I carefully read the commercial questions to make a educated guess based on the show and channel and also if I remember answering a question similar to that one.
I am planning to use the five million points in the auctions section. I’m thinking of using these points to get myself a consumer electronic product that appeals to me and my interest. The auctions section is the place where most of the good prizes are located and has at least seven pages of DVDs and other electronic products that people can bid on. Here is more information on the auctions section:
How Auctions work on RewardTV
Use your TV Points to bid on prizes in our Auctions section. Click on a specific prize and enter your bid for the prize.
Like other auction sites, RewardTV uses automatic bidding. Here’s how it works:
When you place a bid, enter the maximum number of TV Points you are willing to pay for the item. (Other members won’t know what your maximum amount is)
The auctions system places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid up to your maximum amount.
If another bidder has a higher maximum, you will be outbid. If no other bidder has a higher maximum, you win the item. If you win, you only spend as many TV Points as was necessary to outbid the next highest bidder.
I will post a message in this page once I redeem my points for a reward that I like.

Oh and I almost forgot to add this: Just like Paided online, Reward TV require a lot of patience. Probably to much for some people and I think more patience that paided online surveys. So if your not a patient person then I recommend that you don’t even visit this page.
April 28th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I’ll be really interested to see how that goes for you. There were some reviews (mostly old ones) expressing some of the same concerns as I had about difficulty redeeming points. If you can make it happen, then I’ll keep trying! Heath
April 28th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Well I think I can make it happen but it will probably take several months because I want to make at least seven million points so I can be confident that I will win the prize. And I would also have to keep a close eye to bid on the right time. I might even bid on the last minute of the contest so one can exceed my bid. And here is one good thing about the auction system: “Once you place a bid, the TV Points you used to bid are placed on hold and can’t be accessed. If you don’t win, the TV Points are put back in your account and will be available for use.”
In the winners section the Reward TV page there are 1536 pages of people who have won a reward with them. Hoepefully I can be one of them but one thing I’m not looking forward to is the 10-12 weeks of wait that is required for delivery of the reward.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Good luck Eddie. I am not interested in playing games for millions of points just to bid on prizes. Reward TV is too similar to NPDOR and I am sick of Sweepland points. I prefer to just give my humble, yet impeccable, opinion for straight up cash and be done with it. I don’t mind points as long as they are redeemable for cash. My time is very valuable and I have all of the water bottles, wallets, tote bags and calculators I need.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:15 am
I just finished playing all of Sunday’s Reward TV trivia games. I made a total of 54,100 points today and one of the highest earnings in a single day for me. I played a total of 35 games total with all the sports trvia games that had many familiar questions that I recognized from previous games.
Thanks Lee for the good luck. Originally when I joined Reward TV I really didn’t care for it because I seemed like a long way to go a prize. But as time elapsed, I realized that my points were growing really fast. By the end of my first year with Reward TV, I had 2,500,000 in my account.
I’m also a member with NPDOR. I complete all the surveys they sent and try to maximize my points by placing them in a contest that ends the last. This means I can get a 1000 points and switch them to other sweepstakes that have less people entered in them. I really don’t mind taking NPDOR surveys because most of them take less than 5 minutes, some even take less than 1 minute.
NPDOR and RewardTV are minor panels that I get to if there are no paided surveys in my indox. I only participate in them when I have no surveys available.
I think am feeling luckly and I can now see the $200 in my Pay Pay account.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
But Eddie, can you get cash from either RewardTV or NPDOR? I really have no interest in accumulating more ’stuff’. I am disabled, but I also run a full time ebay business that generates $1000+ per month. I will just buy my own gift items with the cash I make.
Every single check I get from a paid online survey is deposited on my credit card because the best investment you can make is to pay down your highest interest loan and, at 9.9% interest, that would be my VISA card. At 49 years old I have all the stuff I need and what I do now is go to see Bruce Springsteen tomorrow night, Van Halen on Friday night, the Eagles on May 21 and Crosby, Stills and Nash on July 21, so far. I also eat out a lot and occaisionally drink a fine bottle of wine. That’s my life in a nutshell.
April 29th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Well Lee how should I start this comment!!! First of all, yeah I know you don’t get cash from either RewardTV or NPDOR but I don’t really care about that because I do get cash from about 10 or more legitimate survey panels. Some people enjoy sites like RewardTV and others don’t. I personnally don’t mind sites like RewardTV and NPDOR even if I don’t earn direct cash. And the fact that you don’t like these sites is fine with me, I mean it’s very understandable why you don’t like these sites. Your current life situation probably has sometime to do with that, no offence. Your from a time period where there was no internet and yeah there was probably market research back then, but NO online survey survey. But I’m from a time period where technology dominants ones life and online survey has become a great funny hobby that makes you feel like your opinion is making a difference.
Nevertheless, I’m willing to wait until to get a prize not because I don’t value my time but because I don’t want to waste the money in my savings to buy other stuff I don’t neeed. And for me, every check I receive from survey panels goes to my debit card. So the bottem line is that we all have different interest and reasons why we joined survey sites or offer sites or what ever else is out there, but one thing remains constant. And that is we enjoy the internet and making money or at least attempting to make money.
P.S. Congrats on your ebay business. I seen your page lapisconnection and that looks interesting to other people but not something I would buy. Anyway, I didn’t know you couldn’t deposited money in to credit card, but hey don’t know nothing about that because I don’t have one of those things. I prefer debit cards because that is money I don’t have to pay back.
April 29th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I have enough points to do ONE shopping spree.
I’ve read the complaints Heath mentioned.
I’m going to try cashing out in one shopping spree and see how hard and fast it is.
If I like it, I’ll keep rewardtv…
If is as hard as they say, I’ll unsubscribe after succesfully getting something out of it.
But I’m def. not going to bid like Eddie and I’m 20.
April 29th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Heath, please put the link for rewardtv in the list “Detailed Reviews of Online Survey Sites”.
Thanks
April 29th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
maplaver, I’m just wondering, how many points do you have with Reward TV? I predict you will be unsubscribing from them because if you don’t like NPDOR Sweeland then you’re going to hate RewardTV.
And also did you mean deaf instead of def, if so then that sucks. Well now I’m going to another page and post a comment.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Eddie, I am not impugning your choices in survey sites at all. To each his own really. I have seen quite a few people on the GFO forum that take hour after hour of surveys on insurance, automobiles and cereal for sweepstakes entries because they have lots of spare time and love to give their opinion; however, if a poll were taken I bet more people would prefer being paid in cash or points for cash than any other method of compensation. That’s just my honest opinion.
I am older than you, but I started using a computer on a time-sharing server back in 1975, which was the forerunner of the internet. The catch was that only other servers that were directly connected to the mainframe in Richmond, VA at VCU could communicate with each other.
Also, my degree in programming is rather outdated because I graduated in 1988. My first degree was in English Literature from VA. Tech. in 1982. I am not even certain if they still use BASIC, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL or C! I think C++ might still be around actually.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I have 261,300 but I had 300,000 a couple days ago but somehow today I have less.
HAS THIS HAPPENED 2 U BEFORE? IF SO, DO U KNOW Y???
Most giftcards are 300,000 in the shopping spree that’s y I said I had enough points 4 one.
“DEF.” stands 4 “Definitely”
April 30th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Well sometimes when I’m taking a long GFO survey and it does not paid for my time, I just blow right though the survey. That takes about 10 minutes or maybe less. I do this when surveys get to tendious. I also intentionally disqualify myself to I can get the sweepstakes entries becuase either way I receive the same number of entries. I rarely blow a paided online survey because sometimes it has a question that needs to be read to continue the survey.
RewardTV can sometimes get so annoying that I need to blow though their questions but I try not to do this that often because I don’t get that many points when I do this
April 30th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Well I have NEVER used any of my RewardTV points on any shopping spree or auctions. I only play the games and watch my points accumulate and what you described has NEVER happend to me. Have you used your points on any shopping sprees, sweepstakes, or auctions? If yes then thats probably why your points are less than you have.
If no then you should probably contact Reward TV consumer help and tell them your problem.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:37 am
I didn’t use my points in anything… they just dissapeared
Have u contacted consumer help before? Do they actually help u or just give u lame automatic answers?
Good luck getting what u’re bidding on
May 1st, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Well thats really weird! I bet you were mad when you first saw your points sisappear. I have never contacted the consumer help before because I never had any problems with them but I think you would help. Here is the link so you complain to them: http://rewardtv.com/help/services.sdo
And good luck to you too on the shopping sprees or what will use your points on…
May 2nd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Yesterday I visited RewardTV auction page to see if they had new items up for biding. Of all the seven pages of products that are in the list, there is only one that I’m realll interested in. The biding for this item started 04/30/08 05:00 PM and will end on 05/16/08 12:00 PM. The current highest bid for this hot product is 8,786,500. I have more than five million points in my account. Now I now there is no way I can make more that three million points in less than a month so I’m going to have to wait until this item is on the list later when I have more points.
As an alternative I am thinking about using my survey earnings to but this product instead of waiting to win it with RewardTV. But as of now I’m not sure what I will do, but I will definitely keep on playing RewardTV.
May 4th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
In response to Eddie’s comment #14, I also do not feel taking 40-70 minute long surveys with GFO is worth my time. No matter how interesting, if I spend more than 30 minutes on a survey, it should pay at least $1.
I think Eddie is right that it’s a good thing to DQ from a long GFO survey, because you still get the Sweepstakes entry; although, I am still certain that I will never win even the $100 Sweepstakes prize. The top prize is $2500 and i know there is a very small chance of winning that with 1.5 million members of GFO.
May 9th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I need this comment to get two entries today so I will say RewardTV is ok and patience is the key will them 3(6)

Heath,
Please review:
‘Echo Connection’
I know is surveys about music and radio for sweepstakes. I was sent to it thru a daily FUSION CASH survey. Maybe someone will be interested in this type of panel.
Thanks

I’m a little worried about this because of all the bad reviews and complaints I’ve read about NIELSEN.
And I haven’t cash out yet.
Hopefully after this change they won’t change the way it is by requiring 2 download a software because I WON’T.
The only thing they should improve is the CASHING OUT method.
May 15th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Oh damn Maplaver! You bet me to that comment. I wanted to post that same message here but it’s to late.
I’m NOT worried at all about this because I don’t care about the “bad reviews and complaints”. All I know is that on May 5 I received a $5 check from Nielsen/NetRatings Research Panel and that is enough for me to good experience with them. I think there is NO CHANCE IN HELL that they will “change the way it is by requiring 2 download a software”. If there were to do that, then there would be a LOT of people mad and enraged. Anywho, it change has no meaning to me. Its just another way that the theory of “survival of fittest”.

Go to http://www.bigbigforums.com/rewardtv for the answer to some shows on Reward TV. You can earn points everyday without watching TV.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Thanks William for informing me for that forum. I have found it informative when looking for answers. I wondering if your allowed to post the answers because I think the Reaward TV policy is against that.
Well anyway I have about 8,100,000 in my RewardTV. I might have a chance to reach 9 million if I have all the sports games in the weekends. At this point, I have NO IDEA what I’m going to bid on in the auctions. 4(3)
October 5th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Eddie, you are the only ‘points millionaire’ that I know personally. How many more points do you need for the Lamborghini?
I have no experience with RewardsTV so I am not counting this post (but you can Heath!).
October 5th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
i’m still tryin 2 cash out with their shoppin sprees but they happen so fast it is imposibble
i’m gettin tired!!!
November 6th, 2008 at 9:19 am
mmm i cant take this site anymore
November 29th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I can take this site…. Today I have successful claimed my FIRST prize with RewardTV. I won this prize by biding a max of 5 million points but I ended up using 4,870,305 out of 9,627,100 that were available. For information on this claimed reward click on the RewardTV Forums below….

im using all my pts on daily sweeps that I WILL WIN… stay positive!!!
and after my pts are all gone, i will unsubs!
November 29th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
What did you win Eddie? The Porsche or the Lamborghini?
November 30th, 2008 at 3:12 am
I won Heavenly Sword. The Porsche or Lamborghine are not items that can be won though Rewardtv, NOT even in a sweepstakes. I am sure RewardTV will NEVER offer those two kinds of prizes so it is safe to say that it will be The End of Time when they do offer Porsche or Lamborghine. One of those is actually worth 500 millions USD.
November 30th, 2008 at 6:08 am
lol
November 30th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
But you can still get the Kia, right?
November 30th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Yes Laugh Out Loud indeed.. Well turns out that I had error in the comment above. I should have been “One of those is actually worth 500 thousand USD.” That seems a moe reasonable..
I don’t know how much a Kia vehicle would cost, but it definitely isn’t anywhere near the cost range of the previous mentioned vehicles. So no I still Do Not get the Kia… becuase comparing RewardTV points to USD is a paradox and is not valid since it’s an aunction. But I do get a Heavenly Sword which is a lot better than the alternatives…
November 30th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
lee, stop coming out with alternatives 2 win in rewardtv… u always long in this topic!
December 1st, 2008 at 1:34 pm
OK.
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:33 am
hahaha… lol ”

December 18th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Today I received Heavenly Sword, my first RewardTV reward. The game was sent to me by Amazon on the behalf of RewardTV. I claimed my reward on Nov. 29, that means it took 3 weeks and 4 days for me to received the prize. That is a lot better that waiting the 10 weeks that are mentioned on the RewardTV website…
December 19th, 2008 at 9:47 am
I’m too impatient to save my points for the auction. I use them on the shopping sprees. I like gift card for restaurants because that is money I wouldn’t spend normally but if I have a card I go out to eat. Of the 2 I have redeemed for I have gotten. But only one has actually reached my hands so far. I’m hoping the other one comes in the next couple of days since I won them 2-4 days apart from each other.
December 31st, 2008 at 5:58 pm
I am a member of rewardtv, but my time is limited, so I cannot spend time every day to rack up my points. I do have over 600,000 in my account, but today 100,000 of those expire. I tried on several occasions to redeem for the shopping spree with no success. Today was the most recent attempt. As soon as the countdown came to 0, I clicked on the spree and typed in the four digit code and clicked redeem in less than two seconds, and as soon as I clicked on redeem, all three sprees had been completed already, so this just proves to me that there is hardly any chance of actually being able to do the shopping sprees. Doing the surveys are fun, and the points do add up fast, but RewardTV is not for someone who wishes to redeem their points for the shopping sprees. I may save up points and try for an auction if there is anything there that I would be interested in, and if all my points don’t expire before I am able to take the time to get enough points to do the auctions. But I don’t see them being one of my biggest priorities in the future. I will probably do the surveys from companies that pay first.
January 1st, 2009 at 6:27 am
i totally know what u mean. i’ve tried the shoppin sprees several times with 0 results. i’m choosing 3 sweepstakes entries EVERYDAY for ALL 6 choices of the list. when im done with my pts, then i’ll unsubscribe cuz the amount of pts. for actions is ridiculous and a waste of time!!!
January 3rd, 2009 at 10:35 am
I agree that RewardTV takes WAY too much time to get anything that’s worth getting. I have got an MP3 player in the past and was trying to save up for an XBox 360 but it looks like that will never happen. I have 11.3 million points and it is still not enough. I am gonna spend what I have and get out of the program. I have found other programs that are MUCH less time consuming. I will get my Xbox 360 from there instead.
February 24th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
I got Katamari Damacy- a playstation 2 game back in December.
March 18th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Hi.I just wanted to share with you all, that I just won a $5 Pizza Hut giftcard. On my first try on the shopping spree.I was reading all of these bad reviews a couple of days ago, and I believed it was impossible to get a reward. But I decided to try at least once,to see if it was worth keeping the reward tv account.
I had signed up a year ago and i had forgotten about this site entirely, until i got an e-mail reminding me my account was inactive for the longest time. All my points were obviously expired ,but i was bored so I started playing the trivia games. They are so much fun.Plus I had like 20 mini surveys accummulated that I filled out and voila! in 2 days I made 150 000 points,in my downtime at work.
Waited for the countdown reach 05 seconds to go, refreshed the page, clicked the redeem now button, entered my address and they will mail my giftcard in 10-12 weeks.I know it is a long time to wait for a $5 giftcard. But,it is FREE!
This made my day,lol.
March 18th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
wow congrats… i tried so many tims with no luck so i unsubscribed
March 21st, 2009 at 11:15 pm
I just received my brand new Playstation 2 today.
I won the auction 21 days ago. It arrived in the mail today straight from Amazon. Sure it took 6 months of playing everyday but, I enjoy it so much I might have done it for free. So, if your looking to have a lot of fun and, win some serious prizes. Rewardtv.com is the place to be. 15 minutes a day and, a little TV triva knowledge will pay off. Patience and, persistance is required. If you are the got to have it now. Instant gratification type, this might not be for you. As for me I’m well on my way to getting that web cam I want.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
What is the best paid/prize survey site you have joined and why?
April 15th, 2009 at 7:48 am
lauren… it would be ZOOM PANEL cuz its easy to reach cashout and the prizes arrive lighting fast!
May 14th, 2010 at 11:58 am
I joined reward TV and have not received any surveys as yet. Is there a reason for this? Thanks for your reply.
May 14th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
This doesn’t sound too appealing to me, I’ll definitely pass.
May 15th, 2010 at 11:39 am
I’m not interested in Prize sites.
June 7th, 2010 at 7:38 am
Tell me if i’m wrong but those on rewards tv trying to win a gift card from shopping spree going be out of luck if they have a slow internet connection.I have dsl and i was waiting for the timer to end on the lest sec.I try to claim one and the site wae running so slow.As i refreshed the page everything been sold out.I’m going try one more time b4 i deleat my account. In my opinion rwtv need to do things differently to attain a gift card.
