NPD Online Research (NPDOR): Online Survey Site Review
Advice, Survey Site Reviews May 2nd, 2008What I know for sure about NPDOR is that you either love it, or you hate it. I’ll have to go with the latter, but that’s only because I don’t have the patience needed to participate. But there are scores of folks out there who say that this is one of the better survey sites in terms of customer service, payout, number of surveys sent, etc.
I joined NPDOR several months ago, and I’ll have to admit that I don’t take many of the surveys. After joining, you are required to complete the first survey before they will activate your account. It’s a relatively short survey and easy to complete. Since then I have gotten 2 to 3 surveys a week from them.
The issue I have with this survey site is that you earn “Sweepsland Points” that are only redeemable for entries into sweepstakes. There are loads of options from which to choose, but they are all “chances” to win. The more points the more chances to win, but these points can never be turned into cash or actual prizes. Although I realize that people must be winning these things, I’m a skeptic by nature and don’t see the time spent vs. reward to be great. I am a member of so many sites, that “chance to win sweepstakes” ones are at the very bottom of my priority list.
I will say that the play to win, and instant win games are very high tech and fun to do if you are into that sort of thing. Those of you out there who like good graphics and enjoy computer games won’t be disappointed. And I suppose if you have actually won any of the sweepstakes, you would be motivated to continue. I haven’t ever one anything in my life, so I’ll admit I’m a bit biased. Please let us know if you have won something from NPDOR. I might be persuaded to participate more!
I saw the following video on the news yesterday so I thought I’d add it just because it’s so darned weird. I realize that different countries have customs far out of the norm for us and to each his own, but this just beats all…I’m seeing some therapy in their future
Don’t miss out on any survey new! Just put your email in the box to the right to subscribe and receive each new post by email. And for an added bonus, from now until May 15th each new subscriber will earn an entry into our blog contest for a chance to win $200. see details

Spot on Heath and I agree completely. NPDOR is not for me. I am not interested in a points system where you are not even allowed to redeem your points for gifts/gift cards, but must ‘bid’ on the reward and then lose all of your points if you are not the highest bidder. It seems like a ridiculous waste of time to me. I am also not one to take surveys in hopes of winning a sweepstakes. I don’t have time for that.
May 2nd, 2008 at 10:34 pm
I hated it… I felt like I was wasting my time 4 nothing
The options for sweepstakes are very good and I would love 2 actually win them, but I don’t… and I’m not sure ANYBODY actually does… so I unsubcribed from this one!!!

I’m a member of NPDOR and I neither like nor dislike them. I don’t remember when I first joined this site but I think its been a while. Now I can understand why some of you “hate” this panel, but I believe there are winners in that site. I take their surveys because all of them take less than five minutes finish and so mean take less than a minute. Using the points system is easy and can be used to maximize you chances of winning. Those two reasons are why I DO NOT hate NPDOR.
NPDOR is one of my least favorite survey sites and it can sometime be a tedious survey site like GFO. I don’t like this panel because they don’t offer points for prize or hard cold cash. And I do I agree with some of the statements Heath mentioned in her review. I will continue to participate in their surveys not because I like their panel but because their surveys are always very very short.

I’ve been doing their surveys for months…they’re easy to
do and I always HOPE to win some cash. But it can be
discouraging. I think most people prefer cash. I like
Opinion Points. It’s straight-forward and points equate
into dollars. They are willing to send a check after
accumulating only $5. (Tho’ I’m still waiting for my first
check to arrive…we’ll see what happens.)
Have you commented on TikTikCash.com? If so, I think I
missed it. Trying to get the offers credited is
difficult. And their $100 cash-out limit is high.
I was sent a $10 survey from survey spot. I went into
it and immediately it said that one was NOT available.
Would I like to take another one? which I’m sure would
have NO $ value. They seem to do a lot of “bait and
switch.”
Tell me where one can make the most cash?? I’d really
like to know.

Well Virginia, I have personally made the most money with Survey Spot. Right now I am staring at a $116 check from them so I think you can make the most cash with them. It might seem slow that first but as you take more surveys then you will probably get more survey invites. Opinion Outpost is also a good survey site. I have $50 with them and I have redeemed $20. I have also received checks from Pinecone Research and American Consumer Opinion. Be patient with Survey Spot, it takes a while to make some good cash with them.

I think the opening statement on NPDOR’s surveys summarizes their system well:
Thank you for your participation in NPD online surveys. Your opinions are very important to us. Please fill out the following survey which should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. As always, your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Upon completing this survey, you will earn all three of the following:
25 SweepLand® points, which can be used as entries into a variety of exciting sweepstakes;
A chance to instantly win up to $500 cash, up to 500 SweepLand bonus points, or one of several exciting prizes, including a Big Apple Grand Slam Vacation!
An automatic entry into our monthly drawing for five $1,000 cash prizes!
The SweepLand program puts YOU in control of what sweepstakes you want to enter! Each eligible NPDOR survey you complete earns you SweepLand points. Each point equals one entry into the sweepstakes of your choice. Win fabulous prizes like cash, vacations, electronics, and much more! Further details, including our complete prize list, will be available at the end of the survey.

Today I receivec my first survey invite from Resonance Research since I joined. The survey was not paided and it was how I feel about Hillary Clinton. I didn’t qualify for it and I’m glad I didn’t.
Here is more information about this panel for those how are interested in joining them:
At Resonance Research, we want to know how you feel about products, services, politics, social issues, and more. If you have opinions to share and are over 18, please join our team.
For product surveys, we generally offer rewards of $3 – $5. The reward for surveys about social issues is often simply the chance to speak out – and to learn about the results.
Our surveys are unique and enjoyable, and you can depend on us to pay any promised incentives for successfully completed surveys. Members of our team receive email invitations to participate.
May 5th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
I am also a member of Resonance and have earned a $1 or $2. I think it looks promising.

Virginia, I did do a review for TikTik Cash. I’m NOT a fan. You can find all of my reviews in alphabetical order in the right hand column to the right. Click on it and it will take you there. Heath

I will be a fan of TikTik Cash when I reach their $100 cash out point in about two years…
May 5th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Lee’s comment summarizes why I don’t like offer sites like Tik tik Cash. In the time it takes to reach their $100 cash, I would have already made twice that amount will paided online survey like Survey Spot.
Recently I received a $116 check from Survey Spot. It took me less than one year to make $100 with them. Heck I think it took me less than six months.

With sites like TikTik Cash ($100), Cash4Dollars (formerly $50 now $25), InboxDollars ($30) and SendEarnings ($30) you get sucked in and usually decide to stay until you are able to cash out.
As I learned with Cash4Dollars, the Paid To Try companies will often terminate your membership for a bogus reason right before you reach the minimum pay out point and you forfit all of your earnings. Fortunately, I only lost $15 when Cash4Dollars terminated my mebership last week for ‘multiple completion of offers’. I will be VERY upset if the same thing happens with TikTik Cash before I reach $100, as I have $42 in earnings already.

LET ME TELL ALL OF YOU SOMETHING. I HAVE BEEN DOING SURVEYS ON LINE NOW FOR OVER 5-6 YEARS. GLOBALTEST MARKET IS THE BEST ONE. TAKES A WHILE TO ACCUMALATE PONTS,BUT ITS WORTH IT. I HAVE MADE OVER 500 DOLLARS WITH THEM. IT TAKES A LITTLE WHILE TO GET YOUR MONEY BUT YOU GET IT AND ITS GREAT. NPDOR IS JUNK.. I NEVER WON A THING FROM THEM.
SURVEY SPOT IS GOOD JUST HAVE TO HAVE PATIENTS. ALSO LIGHTSPEED IS GOOD.. I HAVE MADE A LOT OF MONEY WITH THEM AND CASHED MY POINTS IN FOR AMAZAON GIFT CERTIFICATES.ISOP
JUST CHANGED THERE POINT SYSTEM.I WAS JUST ABOUT TO QUIT THEM BUT I AM GOING TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE MORE TIME TO SEE IF THERE NEW POINT SYSTEM WORKS OUT. STAY AWAY FROM PERMISSION RESEARCH.. THEY’LL SCAM YOU AND SAY YOUR THE ONE DOING SCAMS. AND GREENFIELD ON LINE IS FULL OF IT TO
YOU CAN SPEND 20 MINUTES DOING A SURVEY AND THAN THEY’LL TELL YOU,YOU DIDNT QUALIFY..DUH !!

[...] NPDOR : Complicated “Sweepsland” points [...]
October 12th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Congratulations Eddie, but I couldn’t unsubscribe fast enough from NPDOR. As you know, I am not a fan of points-for-sweepstakes sites and no longer belong to any of them except HiPoints, which also has prizes and briefly had a $5 Amazon gift certificate option. I will remove them soon because I will never be able to cash out and those annoying ‘Trade Your Hard Earned HiPoints for a one-in-a-million chance at a $10,000 Sweepstake!’ emails bother me.

yes, i totally agree with LEE… i DON’T and WON’T do surveys for sweeps entries… they feel like a complete waste of my valuable time!!!
October 14th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Yeah, I also totally Agree with Lee but for some reason I am still a member of NPDOR, probably because I spent less than 5 minutes on them per month. Of course I am not expecting to win even if I use 3000+ points on a sweepstakes, but I have learned to expect the unexpected from market research. After all, I did win a Indoor Grill from a Permission Research scratch off game. So you see why I have nothing to lose from expecting the unexpected. 14(3)

One of the things that annoies me about NPDOR’s sweepland and makes me think it’s kind of a scam is the bonus points from those little flash games after the survey…
Once I took a break from the net for a week and I came back and there were 3 surveys. This time the ‘game’ at the end was the one where you guess the top 3 of something. On the first one I guessed the #2 answer so I got 30 points from that. Next survey I guessed the #1 thing and got 15 points… doubled for getting the #1, so 30. And the last one, the one that really got me thinking they’re just messing with people, I guessed the #3 answer and got 70 points… SEVENTY! In a game where you’re supposed to guess the top one, why is getting the bronze answer worth the most points?
I’ve been doing NPDOR for 6-7 years now and all I have to show for it is a little over 6000 points, and no winnings.
I think I’ll sink all my points into one of their smaller prizes.. like the 100 dollars.. and win or lose, I’m quitting. My 5-10 minutes per could be spent on more profitable things.
March 24th, 2009 at 7:01 am
i totally agree and cant believe u lasted so long with them for NOTHIN!
June 15th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
I signed up for NPDOR, I did a survey on my “registration”, got some points, I was shocked when a few weeks later I got a check for $100. I was leary of cashing it, but it was for real, I signed up and entered my sweeps and 3 weeks later, got a check in the mail! They really do work and people really do win!
July 5th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
I signed up with NPDOR a little over six months now I get surveys 1-2 a month and I always get 25 points for them and then I get a chance a more points with the little spin wheel and I always get 30 points i always use them as I get them. i havn’t won anything yet so I was wondering if it was real. Also if others get surveys more often.
July 6th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I’m not a fan of prize sites because I barely have enough time for my top 30 legitimate cash and amazon gift certificate sites. I can no longer spend four hours per day taking surveys in hopes of winning a prize through a sweepstakes with improbable odds.
July 6th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
i unsubscribed. i hated it. not my thing
September 29th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
I have been doing the NPDOR surveys for about 2 years (I think) now. I just found out a couple of nights ago that I won the 42 HD Plasma TV. I have just filled out an affidavit & W9 & dropped it at the post office. I was told I would receive it in about 2-3 weeks after they get that.
We will see.
September 29th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Congratulations, Suzie! Let us know when you get your new TV! Heath

I actually won the $1,000 monthly drawing on NPDOR. I wasn’t sure if it was for real when I got the email, but I decided to sign the affidavit and see what happened. I actually got the check in the mail shortly after winning. My bank wasn’t sure about the legitimacy of the check, and I was questioned by the manager about it. I ended up depositing it with the understanding that if it didn’t clear, the money would be deducted from my account. It has been over a month now and the check did clear. I have to say that I was really shocked to win this money, but it couldn’t have come at a better time!
April 16th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
Good to hear people actually do win prizes from this site. I always complete their surveys so this gives me hope i might win something with a little luck. Congratulations to those people that won!
June 9th, 2010 at 7:23 am
To the survey winners, how many points did you enter into the contests in which you won?
July 12th, 2010 at 6:13 pm
I am not sure about this website, have been a member for over a year. Never won anything and feel that it is a complete waste of time. I would prefer if they paid in cash, not their scam sweepstakes. If I do not win anything by the end of the year I will cancel my membership.
July 12th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
Instead of taking surveys for a prize, just buy a lottery ticket. Your odds are about the same of winning and you will have saved way more time than $1 is worth.
September 8th, 2010 at 2:43 am
i dont know why i do the surveys. i definitely dont care for sweepland crap. i am still skeptical about the site, and perhaps i dont know what im getting into, but theyve never asked me for too personal info other than my age gender and race. so i do know that if it is a real site, im contributing and if its not, they cant really do anything scamwise… so far. i havnt registered an account and i dont plan to.
