Lightspeed Consumer Panel: Top 25 Legitimate Survey Sites
Advice, Survey Site Reviews, Top January 31st, 2008You’ve probably noticed a few changes on our Blog in the last few days. We are trying to add some bells and whisltes so that you can get more out of the experience. Reading about survey sites, although informative, can be downright dry and boring. So…I’m adding some pictures and videos that I like, hopefully to bring a smile to your face as you learn about this process. My goal for today is to be as happy as this baby is!
I’ll be discussing Lightspeed today, so far so good! I joined several months ago, and I have mostly positive impressions to this point.
I was delighted to hear from Rebecca on my Good, Bad and ugly post from yesterday, about her good experiences with mindfield. Thanks, Rebecca! I hope to get lots of feedback going forward. I will admit that my first experience with mindfield (which was an offer) turned me off, and I may have given up too soon.
BTW, I said my goal was to be like that laughing baby, the reality is this:
Lightspeed has a well laid out member page, with easy access to information. You’ll be able to check on available surveys, your account information etc. with just a click. They pay with a point system (75 to 1000 points per survey) with 1150 points = $10. They are very upfront about what you will receive in terms of rewards.
I have gotten several surveys a week from the beginning. I haven’t qualified for all of them, but I have accumulated about 1500 points so far without spending too much time on it.
As on many of the survey sites, you’ll find member profiles to take so that they can better match you up with available surveys. It’s important to take those to get your demographics in the system. You’ll find a column for Current surveys, which pays point, and mini-polls and quick match surveys, which enter you into a sweepstakes. You can pick and choose what you want to do.
Don’t give up, here’s a little inspiration for ya! Dancing on out..
I’ve updated this review. You’ll find the the most up-to-date information about lightspeed here in a blog post June 2010.

This is one of my favorite survey sites. I have had mostly a positive experience using this site expect for one interactive survey I attempted to take. Well now I’m going to comment on a unique survey I took last December.
Last December I took a 20 or 30 minutes survey about beverages. I got a 1000 points for completing it and was also invited to participate in 2 week survey where I was sent a Zire Palm Pilot to record all the beverages I consume. I would get 60 dollars if I returned the material they sent and if my answers were choosen.
Well to my surprise I got $10 of the $60 they promised when I received the package with the Palm Pilot. So I recorded all the beverages I consumed with the little pen for two entire weeks. Then on the 15th day, which was December 25, I took a short survey in the Palm. After that I mailed all the materials in a FedEx bag they sent me. Then the long waiting game began.
The I finally got a letter from them in February. I was mad when I read this part of the letter:
“Upon further review of the palm that was assigned to
you, our records indicate that yo did not qualify for
the final incentive due to one or more of the
following reasons”
They then listed several excuses why I did not the $50 dollars I was entitled to. Thats a whole lot of BS!!!
Oh Well, at least I got $10 dollars for my effort. I should have called them to ask why I didn’t receive the full incentive, but I was to lazy to do that and to busy with other paided surveys.
Overall, this unique survey was very different any other survey I have taken and I did learn something new about the research process. This experience was somewhat bad because I didn’t the $60, but it did make me more excited about taking other survey that paided like this one.

eddie im sorry you did not get the 50 from lightspeed i took this same survey and they paid all 60
May 5th, 2008 at 8:14 pm

$5 PayPal = 575 points
I received an ‘e-certificate’ saying:
Your Lightspeed Rewards Zone Order is Complete!
E-certificates will be emailed to the address in your account (at the time the order is placed) with in a few hours of placing the order. *A few e-certificates may take 3-5 days to receive via email to your profile email address.

I have over 5000 points in my Lightspeed Consumer Panel account. Today I took a Lightspeed survey for 75 points. The survey was about the US military and my opinions about the Air Force, Navy, and the army. I was also shown pictures of TV commercials about the Air Force. This survey took me about 15 minutes to complete.
I also took two of their surveys for 1000 points. One of the surveys was about beverages I drink. This survey was the one that invited me to record the beverages I drink for a $60 reward. I only got $10 out of the $60.
I am planning to request a Pay Pal reward before the $200 Blog Contest. I will post a comment here when I do this.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Even though I am only up to 725 points, I know LightSpeed rocks from all of the other positive reviews on other forums. And, yeah, that’s another ‘lee’ in post #3 and they are referring to points, not cash.
May 5th, 2008 at 11:42 pm
I think they are referring to cash because I took the $60 dollar beverage survey but got $10. The survey required that me to record all the drink I consume in a 15 day period and then take a short survey in a Palm Pilot. After that I mailed the Palm to them. I don’t think it would make sense if the lee in comment #3 were referring to points because I got 1000 light speed points for taking a beverage survey that offered me a chance to participate in the other long survey that I talked about in comment #1.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:24 am
Yeah, I just reread your first post. It’s still Cinco de Maya here…
May 7th, 2008 at 9:52 am

May 7th, 2008 at 9:55 am
oops… correction:
I cashed out on SATURDAY may 3rd and received the payment on TUESDAY may 6th… not bad.
**HEATH, this is still part of my comment #2, I was correcting a mistake, thanx**
May 7th, 2008 at 11:54 am
I have not been able to cash out from LightSpeed yet. I must not be in their key demographic. it’s been three months and I am still stuck at 725 points.
May 8th, 2008 at 11:04 am
LEE NEW:

May 21st, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Today I received my $20 PayPal payment from Perks.com I used 2300 for my 5410 points I had in my account. I now have over $150 in my PayPal account and every dollar is from surveys I have completed. Things are looking up for me because I estimate that by the end of this year I should have at least $300 in my PayPal account.
May 21st, 2008 at 7:58 pm
NICE!!!
May 22nd, 2008 at 7:48 am
i just got a $10.00 paypal from lightspeed, ist ever survey $, that works out to about 7.4 cents per hour but hey it’s a start…my question is do yall eventually end up paying for robo or does it stay free???cheers rick.
May 22nd, 2008 at 9:16 am
Hi,
I received $5 from lightspeed too, it’s my favourite site because you get points easily, i got that $5 for just 1 days work. I got 3 surveys that day, and when it totalled 575 points, i immediately redeemed it, and got $5 in my paypal account in 2 days. Now thats what i call prompt payment.
Survey spot is also good but it takes lot of time to be paid. I have unclaimed rewards for surveys i completed on May 10th, but i still haven’t got credited for many others i did in april, figure that out! Maybe it depends on their customers.
Anyway, i just wanted information from anyone who has done a product sampling survey, i mean where they send u the product, u use it and then answer survey questions.
I got one in survey spot, initially it was a $3 survye, but after i completed it, they asked whether i would like 2 sample their product and do another survey, and i said yes. My problem is, i also had 2 give my phone no, so will they call? what type of questions will they ask? Also what do u think they will pay for this, the amount was not specified in the survey, and survey spot has never replied 2 any of my questions till now.
So, if any of u have any experience in doing a survey of this kind, any information would be welcome.
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:16 am
JASH18,
With PINECONE, they paid me $3 for the survey, $3 for the survey after 3 weeks of samplying the product, and they asked me to keep using it for 2 more weeks and do another survey which will be $3 also (I guess).
With ZOOM, they paid me with points for the 1st survey and for they survey after trying the product.
EPOLL sent me a movie and paid me with points for the survey after watching it.
I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED CALLS!!!
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Rick, Why pay for something that you can get for FREE? That is what I would like to ask all the people who pay for music. I NEVER pay of music because I download music for free. Anyone can download one of the dozens of P2P file sharing programs and get FREE music downloads.
The something can be said about Roboform. Why pay for Roboform when you can get it for FREE? I use Roboform2Go and I NEVER ended up paying for it. Currently I have 59 days in my trial period, so tomorrow I think I will reinstalled Roboform in my U3 Smart Flash Drive. This will guarantee that I’m able to use Roboform for the next two months.
May 22nd, 2008 at 2:39 pm
eddie…that answers my question sort of…you then resign up at robo every 2 months or do they tell you when your trial is up ect???what do others do about robo???…i need to get a flashdrive…do you have a link to one of those music sharing sites?…thanx rick.
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:41 pm
I reinstall the Roboform2Go after I am non able to fill forms with passwords. A message saying “Trial Period has Expired” pops up when you are are near the end of the trial period. So they do tell me when the trial is up. If you plan to get a flash drive, I recommend a U3 Smart Drive. My flash drive is a Sandisk drive. Here is a list with U3 drives: http://www.u3.com/smartdrives/default.aspx
And here is a link to the current P2P program I have installed in my computer: http://www.filesharinginfo.com/Morpheus_5.3.exe
I also used limewire before but its not installed in my computer. Both of these program will allow you to download music and other stuff for FREE.
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:31 pm
RICK,
Re installing ROBOFORM doesn’t work like it does 4 Eddie. I’m guessing it only works with ROBOFORM2GO ’cause I’ve reinstalled it and still got the message “Trial Period has Expired”.
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:13 pm
To make this work for me I do the following: I Only transfer .rfp files but Do Not use the Roboform options menu to backup the files. Use Windows Explore to Copy and paste the .rfp files into the new Roboform folder. Make sure you DO NOT paste these files into the new folder: RoboformDataHere.txt, cache.rfo, license.rfo, mru.rfo, options.rfo, and smpenc.rfo. After you do all this, open the Roboform program.
I only used the desktop version of Roboform when I misplaced my USB Drive. I used the same passcards that were in my Flash Drive so I didn’t have to enter all my of them again. I think this should work for the desktop version but if it doesn’t work after all the steps I mention above then I your screwed.

Here is another reason why LightSpeed Panel is on my TOP 10 survey sites that must be joined: Yesterday I took a survey that lasted about 20 minutes and got 2000 points for completing it. That is almost $20 dollars worth of points. The survey was about my experiences with a computer program that I was asked to use for one month. So now I think LightSpeed is one of my top ten sites that I have made the most money with. I strongly recommend this site to anyone who wants to make money through PayPal.
June 4th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Dude, how do you do it? That’s amazing! I am still stuck at 950 points waiting to cash out for the first time…
June 5th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Well I do all the survey they give me. Most of the time I only log in to their website when I get an email telling a new survey is available. But when I completed the 2000 point I didn’t get a email alert. I visited the site after I got a 150 point survey opportunity then I later found a new survey available so I click it and found out it was the one I was expecting. So if you can more LigthSpeed points then I recommend you visit your account more often.
June 6th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Lightspeed is my top #4
June 6th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Wow! 2000 points for 1 survey. The most i get from Lightspeed is 500 points. And lightspeed is one of my favorites too. It has been approx one month since i joined, and i have redeem $30 till now. I have made more money through Surveyspot though approx $99, but have only been able to request checks for $47, still waiting for other amounts to be credited.
Anyway i hope u all are reading your survey invitations before deleting them. I sometimes don’t, i just read the subject line, and if does not specify dollars, i delete it. But today i got a survey from surveyspot, and looked like a sweepstakes survey. I wanted to delete it, but clicked it to see what it was about. And inside it read ‘You will get $3 for completing this survey’
Luckily i qualified and finished it, so just don’t delete the mail without opening it.
bye

wow Jash,
u’re doing great
June 7th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Hi,
Are any of you interested in Focus groups? I recently came across a list of survey sites that conduct focus groups and interactive surveys. I joined up, and they look good enough. I got a couple of offers, but they were face 2 face and telephonic interviews, so i did not accept, but maybe i will get some more opportunities later.
So, if you are interested, i can give u the list. You get paid a lot more for focus groups, and product testing than surveys. You can get $50 to $150, per session.
Maybe Heath can review these sites for us too
P.S: All sites are free to join.
June 7th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Hi Jash,
R u talking about sites like 20/20 research, focus pointe global, focus fw, plaza research?
I haven’t accepted any face 2 face session either cuz they’re not close 2 me at all!!!
Hopefully I get selected 4 one that u can do thru ur cpmputer
June 7th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Hi Maplaver,
Well u got some of the sites, so most probably u know the rest. And Reward Tv is an okay site, you can have fun answering quiz’s , but don’t expect to win anything, since there is lot of competition, and by the time you get the necessary points needed, to bid for a product, you might die of Old Age.
I only visit that site sometimes, just to test how good my knowledge of my favorite serials is.
Also has anyone ever got an fraud E-mail from an unknown person or company saying u are going to be awarded millions? I get a lot of them. One of my favorites is the Nigerian scam. Someone sent me an big story, probably copied from a novel, saying they would pay me money if i could help them.
I sent them back a message, pointing out their various mistakes, and how they should improve themselves. I mean if you are trying to fraud someone, atleast be creative, and original
I am pasting, one mail i got today, from a so called company promising to pay me a million Dollars. Apparently, i am one of seven lucky guys, selected from around the GlOBE. Yeah Right!!

I cashed out for $10 (1150 points) from LightSpeed! W00t! Go me!
June 7th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Congrats LEE
JASH, I also get A LOT of those scam emails… I don’t even read them… I erase them with the rest of my junk mail!!!
June 8th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Dude Jash I emails like what you described on comment 33 at the freakin time. I don’t really care a rat’s a$s about them because most of the time they are sent to my Yahoo spam folder. The messages vary from different topics. Here are some of subject lines on them: “Paying $225 a day… you must be able to work from your home”, “The Government is holding Your Money – Come and get it!”, “WAL*MART 1,000 Dollar Gift Card Giveaway”, and “This VISA $5,000 Credit Card is Yours – NO Participation Required”.
Those are just a few of the time wasting messages I get. And I agree with you Jash, Spammers should at least try to make the emails somewhat belivable
June 8th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Believe it or not, many people fall for those!
Luckily, I haven’t

I have been a member of Inbox Dollars for quite sometiem and was looking for something a little quicker on pay scale. Your reviews and advice have been so helpfull. Thank you.

Yesterday I completed a 150 point Lightspeed Survey that last about 20 minutes not including breaks. After I completed, survey I was asked if I was wanted to download a program that will track the ads I click on. I would earn 1250 points if I would keep the program in my computer for 4 weeks. I did install the program and I hope to be credited with the extra points after the 4 week period. 2(2)

Today I attempted to qualify for a survey that would take 60 minutes and would reward me 500 points for my time. I think that is not enough points for a one hour survey. 1000 points would be more appropritate.
The survey was about beverages and the survey said I would have a chance to take the second part of this survey for 2000 points. Well in The End, I got this message… “Our quotas have been filled.” 11(2)
October 31st, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Yep lightspeed has always been one of my favorites. It offered the best compensation in points (translated to money or merchandise) for your time. However over the last couple of months I have had a few problems.
Several times I would receive an email invite to a survey, click the link and instead of being taken to a survey I’m taken to a page saying I’ve already started this survey and cannot participate. After this happened a couple of times I emailed Lauren, who NEVER responded.
Eddie, consider yourself lucky because a few days ago I received an offer of a 500 point survey, which I completed. At the end I was presented with an offer to complete part two for an additional 2000 points, of course I accepted. This is the beverage survey you referred to.
I spent over an hour and at the end when I submitted the survey I found myself on the login page, not logged in. I logged in and checked my account and was NOT credited with the points. I emailed Lauren and got a reply today that made it obvious she didn’t really read my email as my specific concern was not addressed.
I’m wondering if they are going down the road of some of the other survey companies.
There’s over an hour of my life I won’t get back. So now I’m hesitant to participate in their surveys in the future.

i’ve made double that… $40… but lately they haven’t sent me an invitation AT ALL

Here is my experience with Consumer Say, which I came to through LightSpeed. They say register and get $20.00. They ask for passwords to your bank account and credit card accounts, which I HATED giving out, but they were affiliated with LightSpeed so I trusted them. Well, it’s been a couple months and several emails to Consumer Say AND LightSpeed, but I get NO answer and NO money! I gave out sensitive info and got NOTHING! I don’t know what to do next, since I can’t get that info back. Nothing strange has happened with my accounts, but it still makes me uncomfortable, especially since they didn’t hold up their end of the deal. Anyone have a suggestion on what I should do?
November 25th, 2008 at 9:23 am
I am sorry to hear what happend to you. Lightspeed pulled a trick on me also. At first they were excellent , but then the cancel me for no apparent reson, sent me a 5 dollar payment . They reinstated me and then they requested I download something and said I would be awared 2000 points after several months. I downloaded it. After a few weeks I realized it was a sort of spyware and they saw everything I did on the computer. They never gave me any further instructions and ignored my emails . I uninstalled the program since. I know they have alot of info from me. They need to be watched very carefully. The also are not good at responding to email. I will not deal with them again. I made good money with them at first though. Please let us know what happens.

I am probably going to do the same thing eventually in spite of the brilliant reviews from many people on other sites. I guess $35 per year is worth giving them a bit longer, but I am getting jaded in my second year of paid online survey taking. I still have Lightspeed ranked #22 in my list of Surveys That Pay! so maybe I will give them a little bit longer. Their website has been down for me over the past 24 hours.

Hi, first i’d like to thank this website (Talking about LightSpeed panel i got a Survey invite that said earn 2,500 points…the first part was 500 points and i completed and received the 500 pts….and the next day i received the 2nd part which was 2,000 pts well i was on the 2nd part of the survey which is suppose to take 45-60 min…and it was about 45 min into the survey and the survey froze…i tryed logging back into the survey but it said that i paused it before finishing and it was no longer available i was MAD! because before i even started the survey i had a feeling that the 2,000 points was to good to be true and i knew there was gonna be some kond of problem…but i took that risk…So i emailed Lauren with the survey invitation attached on feb 18 2009, still no reply its only been two days but i was wondering if anyone had any way of contacting them or if they have had this problem with them….THANKS!

I don’t like any sight with points systems to take surveys, it distracts you from how much exactly you will be making for your wasted time on these surveys. I mean, say you take a 15 min survey for 75 points, which is about right for 15 minutes with most of these companies. Well, 4 of them in one hour, you just managed to rack up an income of $2.60 per hour. If your time is that worthless to you, go ahead, but i think if people would actually stop taking the cheap points surveys, and only hold out for larger points or rewarding invites, than many of these sights might start to get the picture that they are being a bit cheap. And now more than ever, so many companies are doing focus groups, studies, surveys, online bulletens, to get consumers opnions to help keep there companies afloat, to know what we actually want, what will get us to still purchase even though most of us are broker than we have ever been, but still they are even more despret than us, thats why they are reaching out. I’ve joind quite a few legit companies, that invite me a couple times a week, and I’ve been compensated between 30$-250$ for no longer than 2hrs of my time. Now if all these companies do as the hand full of good companies I managed to score, I could make a pretty decent income off of them, but I regret signing up for alot of these other survey panels: Lightspeed, mindsfield (is cash but the reward is not very rewarding), NPD, Globaltestmrkt, survey points, a site called Vindale research really annoyes me, because they send you invites for surveys $15-$30-$60 and they are a bit lengthy but still alot of money you think until you realize that in order to get your reward you have to join some club, or purchase some product there, or get a discover card and make purchases. And I think, are they gonna reimburse for these things they want you to sign up for or the purchases, no, just more wasted time, products you don’t want, memberships that are gonna rip a big hole in your pocket if you forget to cancel it in time, and when it comes down to it your making about 2, 3 bucks an hour just like the other point sights if you don’t make the mistake of going for the ones where getting the product to evaluate exceeds the reward price. I’m slowly starting to unsubscribe to many of these sights, cause they are junking up my mailbox, but I always send them an email first saying that I’m leaving their site because the rewards offered is not worth the amount of time wasted to take them. Your better off spending your wasted time looking for other opportunities that are more profitable, and never give a company money in advance that promises of profit if you join there membership, that goes with all these online business scams too. If your asked for money to make money your are about to be taken… Have a great day everyone….

Dear Lightspeed,
This is the THIRD time I have contacted you about this matter. I requested $5 PayPal redemptions on two occaisons and have yet to receive my reward. My friends have told me that their PayPal accounts were credited within 3-4 days after requesting rewards from Lightspeed. My PayPal account (acenew1@gmail.com) is different than the email where the surveys are sent
(lapisconnection@gmail.com).

Bad, bad experiences with Lightspeed. They have dropped me out of their surveys after I complained about survey windows not advancing. It has happened to me several times and I complained to them about it. I contacted Lauren several times with not even a reply. I cannot even log in to my account. I had over 300 points at the time they knocked me out of their system. I would have had enough points for a PayPal payment if that last survey worked the way it was supposed to. Do be wary if your survey hangs up and won’t advance. I was on the tail end after spending about 1/2 hour on survey. I lost all points. Lauren at Lightspeed doesn’t reply to my emails to her, I sent her at least 4.

omg lightspeed is awesome I decided to participate in a two week survey where they send me a palm pilot and they make me record everything I drink and I get rewarded 85.00. I was nervous that they wouldn’t send the money so i’ll have to let you know on that because today I just received the palm pilot AND a 20$ visa giftcard!!!!
June 18th, 2010 at 10:54 am
Do let me know Michelle I did the same survey and got the 20 dollar card that wasn’t even loaded , I had to call them to put the money on it. That survey was a pain in the butt and 2 weeks of wasted time cause they haven’t even sent me another payment. Should have kept the palm pilot for my efforts.
