We apologize for the delay.  I wonder if it has anything to do with a previous e-mail I have sent in response to my unhappiness with the PayPal being discontinued and the customer service rep preaching the value of the virtual VISA card.
Unfortunately that does not meet my needs. The system changed when I was waiting for rewards to be confirmed when Pay Pal was removed. I have 3 pre- paid credit cards now from other survey sites. A virtual card does
not allow me to use my rewards in brick and mortar locations. My Pay Pal account for which I have a debit card allows me to do this. I do not know what the reason for the removal of Pay Pal was. Just so there is no misunderstanding I am extremely pissed off. I have used the prepaid cards before and sometimes you are charged more for your purchase until it clears then your funds are freed up. It has happened when I have used it in restaurants and gas purchases also at liquor stores.. The convenience is highly over rated.

One question that has come up quite a bit recently is concerning age as a factor in qualifying for surveys. I haven’t been able to find much substantial evidence on whether being past a certain age leaves you frustrated and empty handed when it comes to the earning potential for those survey respondents over the age of 45 or so.

Being the ripe old age of 50 and counting, I find that I still qualify for  many surveys. I hear stories from readers of the blog who don’t seem to have the same luck. In my opinion, there are several variables that come into play here. Sex, income group, shopping habits, children under the age of 18 living at home, and demographics are combined as criteria for choosing participants. Depending on the product for which the market research is being done, the criteria changes considerably. Do I think that the folks between the ages of 25 and 45 qualify for more surveys than I do? I’m quite sure that they do. But at least for my age group, I feel that there are still plenty of surveys to keep me busy.

So please share with us your experiences. Do you feel that your age is hindering your ability to qualify for surveys?

Everyone who uses their computer much for email, purchasing, taking surveys etc; needs to do two things.   Get a telephone number that cannot be traced to their residence or person.  Easy to do by using Magic Jack for $20/year.  The entire transaction and usage can be limited to the anonymity of your computer through the Internet.  You can pick the exchange and use any name you choose.   The one I use the most has an exchange from New York City even though I live in Arizona.   I never answer the Magic Jack calls.   They all are forwarded to an email and I can listen to any messages left at my leisure and decide whether or not I wish to communicate further with the caller.   It lists the number and name of the caller and I can call them back if I chose.  When I thus call someone back, I use my cell phone which again is not easily traced to me. 

If you get the impression that I highly value my privacy, you are right on track.  You can share any or all of this information if you chose.

Also have one email address to use which also provides you protection from revealing anything personal.   It’s pretty easy to do.  Most email companies offer multiple email addresses such as the one to which you send me your newsletter.  Cox offers all clients seven email addresses.  

Avoid using your personal name in any email address.  It is totally not necessary.   I personally have eleven different email addresses and my name is not in any of them.   I use each for specific purposes which allows me to more easily track any breaches in the security of companies with whom I chose to do business or have contact.

I do something similar but I change my middle initial so I know who it came from. I belong to 10 survey sites but there being 26 letters I have a ways to go. I find that this problem is mainly from sites that have surveys that require to complete steps to get your reward. Legitimate survey sites I have had no problem with,  such as global test market, survey spot, opinion outpost, survey.com and surveyhead.com I have had no problems with. There are a couple of more but those are just of the top of my head.

Thanks for the input! I love to hear from everyone with tips and tricks that the rest of us may not have thought about. In the beginning, I tried to use a separate email addresses for each different survey site, but that was more trouble than it was worth. Keeping up with all of those addresses made my head spin and I found myself missing out on surveys.

I also wanted to post something that Brenna from the University of Tennessee posted on the blog. I took the survey and thought that it was very well done and interesting.

With all of the worthless survey sites out there, E-Poll has proven itself to be reliable and legitimate. I have cashed out numerous times (every few months) with rewards ranging from Amazon gift cards to the newly added transfer to Paypal. There is quite a long list of available gift cards, which previously were mailed to you. The good news is that now you can get the gift card code by email rather than waiting forever for the mailman to bring  it 2 months later. They are still somewhat slow, but have made improvements in that department, so I can’t complain.

The silly point system remains which requires you to amass 3500 points to earn a $5 gift card (or Paypal payment) and 6750 to redeem $10, although the longer I have been a member the easier it has been to get to the payout levels. Most surveys range from 500 to 1000 points and I have been awarded higher amounts a few times. On occasion, E-Poll will mail out DVD’s of movies to review. These generally pay 2000 points!

Overall, this survey site has improved with age. It didn’t make the Top 10 list, but it’s a survey site that should be on your survey site list.

surveys are sent out about once a week, ranging from .50 to $5, depending on the length of the survey. I’ve gotten one for $1 and one for $2 so far. Not too shabby for a couple of weeks in. The FAQ states that on occasion a survey will be for sweepstakes but that’s the exception, not the rule. Each survey will have the payout amount listed before taking it.

The surveys are paid in Survey Dollars, and when you reach the minimum payout of $50 ( a little high) you can request a check or send it to charity. The following are the list of requirements for joining:

You must also be:

• A resident of the United States of America
• 14 years of age or older
• Not working in market research or related industries

I do think that Springboaard America may be promising. If any of you are already a member, please let us know what your experience with them has been.

I’ve gotten on average of 3 surveys a week (ranging from 75 to 500 points) which is far and away above lots of other survery sites. I don’t qualify for all of them, but I seem to qualify for more than my share with lightspeed. 1100 points= $10, so it’s fairly easy to reach payout. I’ve been invited to a couple of interactive surveys, which paid 1000 points, but those are few and far between.

I always choose Paypal as my payment of choice for lightspeed points but there are other choices if you are interested:

“cash, online gift certificates, music downloads, and hundreds of other prizes. Or, build up your points for bigger prizes in your lightspeed Points Account.”

Payment to my Paypal account usually occurs within 24 to 48 hours after requesting payment. Works for me?

Unfortunately, this edginess and uncertainty is affecting the online paid survey business as well. Companies are tightening their belts and not doing as much market research. Market Research companies are feeling the pinch and not offering as many incentives and have less surveys to provide to us. I’m sure you all have noticed that even the daily surveys are not as plentiful as they once were. Lots of us are getting the dreaded “there are no surveys available at this time” message.

The good news is that the surveys are still coming. Just at a slower pace right now. Don’t get discouraged or think that your online paid survey site is discriminating against you personally. You probably aren’t making as much money online as you did a year ago, but any extra income helps. But this too shall pass. Hopefully this time next year all of the tough times will just be a memory.

I had a request to review Survey Team, which claims to be a survey site. I say “claims” because it is most certainly an offer site, and a misleading one as well. The first red flag is the $100 minimum payout which brings back memories of TikTik cash. Ugh.

Another issue is with payment practices. A google search will reveal many dissatisfied members who claim non-payment, extremely low payment, and delaying tactics.

Although many of the offers listed on the surveyTeam website are the standard fair, you’ll also find the $500 gift card offers, which will drive you mad with no reward. I even found the infamous “IQ Test” which I fell for when I was a newbie. You take the entire test, only to be told that you have to complete an offer before they’ll tell you your score. Of course I hadn’t read the fine print, which reads:

“After completing the quiz, we will calculate your score and provide you with the results upon completion of a mobile games subscription offer. We think IQ tests should be fun, so our quiz isn’t PhD certified, but instead just for entertainment purposes only.”

It’s NOT entertaining to be tricked into completing an offer!

Unless you are a big fan of offer sites that TikTik cash and panda Research, this “survey site” is certainly not worth your time.
