Harris Poll Online (http://www.harrispollonline.com/) is another one of those survey sites that is usually on the list of top 10 survey sites. For the most part, this may be because of name recognition. Who hasn’t heard of the Harris Poll? One of the most well known, well respected and established marketing firms in the world, people flock to join this one. They have a referral program very infrequently, as they are usually very well “stocked” with members. Participants are selected randomly as the need arises for a particular project.

I joined several months ago and have gotten 2 to 3 survey per month. After registration, I received an introductory survey which got basic information. There are certain surveys about movies, product testing, and election/ political issues or special characteristics (e.g., chronic illness sufferers) which will be sent if you have this area of interest. They say that you could be sent 1 to 2 more surveys a month if you qualify…I didn’t.

The drawback here, for me, was in the amount of points paid per survey. HI points, as they are called, are given for completed surveys. The good news is that most of them only take about 10 minutes to complete. For the most part, you will be awarded about 50 points (100 point bonus after your third survey as well). These points can be redeemed for paypal, gifts and gift certificates. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll have to take a LOT of surveys to get enough points for a $5 gift certicate. I’m not there yet. As always, I’d love to have feedback from anyone out there who may have been a member longer than I have.

Now I’m going to give a quick feedback on Harris Poll Online. I have been a member of HPO since June 2005. (This is the first survey site I ever joined). I have earned a total of 9265 HIpoints since I joined but right now I have 6265 points. In December 2006, I redeemed 3000 of my points for Sony Computer/DeskTop Speakers then two weeks later I received my reward. I get an average of 3 surveys a month but this January I got a high of six surveys. Each completed survey gets me 30 points and you can finish a survey later if you don’t want to do it in one sitting. The highest number of points I got for completing a survey is 300 and the lowest is 10. One thing I don’t like about HPO is that they don’t offer a wide variety of prizes to just from. I think Opinion Square/Permission Research have a better selection than HPO. Other than that, I think Harris Poll Online is a good survey site that has proved to me that they are genuine.

Here is some information that might be helpful for anyone who is interested in joining this panel:

The Harris Poll is one of the oldest and most prestigious polls in the world. By participating, you'll not only have your say in matters that affect you, you'll also be able to see the results from the surveys you complete. You can then compare your opinions and experiences to many others'—people who are like, and unlike, you. Occasionally, you may participate in surveys whose results will be published in national or international media. If time permits, we'll even email the results to you before they are published.

HIpoints - Harris Poll Online Rewards
To show our thanks for your support and participation, you'll be enrolled in our new appreciation program, Harris Poll Online Rewards. We offer the opportunity to earn HIpoints for the majority of our studies. On occasion a study will be conducted that will not have HIpoints associated with it, but this only occurs in exceptions. Once you've accumulated enough points you may redeem them for your choice of a variety of great rewards. You can redeem your points as soon as you reach a redemption level, or you can let them grow for even greater rewards. Learn more about HIpoints or access your HIpoints member account. (http://points.ugive.com/hpol)

HIstakes - Harris Poll Online Sweepstakes
We appreciate your participation and to show you that, we have given away cash prizes ranging from $50 to our grand prize of $10,000 - see our list of sweepstakes winners (http://www.harrispollonline.com/sweeps.asp).

I was about to take my 130 HiPoints and go home until they added the 800 point $5 PayPal option. Now I sit anxiously by my Inbox waiting for another Harris Poll. :p

I've been doing Harris Poll for a while... but I have not checked my HiPoints in a long time. Last time the prizes were lame and required too many points!
I've got to go in and check out that PayPal option... Whoo hoo :D

I would NEVER use my points on sweepstakes entries. I currently have more that 8000 in my account and I will use every one of those points on a $5 PayPal deposit. I mean why would I use my points for a sweepstakes that I have a VERY low chance of winning when I could get a instant $5.
Agreed. I am not a big fan of Harris Poll and their HiPoints system, but the $5 PayPal is the only way to go. I still only have 260 points. I thought they would be much better.

I only have 380 points with them, not even enough for $5 paypal. They are not sending me enough surveys. If I had that many points, I would definitely redeem them for cash. It looks like you can still enter the sweepstakes by mail without having to use your Hi points. I may just do that.

This site is not that good. I av been it for over 2 years and do not miss a survey, They pay terrible points, you can never get up the ladder to get the good gifts unless you have been on the panel for 5-7 years. Even then, there not that great, and the survey are much to long and to repetitive! Its one of the last surveys I do on my daily list if I have an invite from them.Normally its a Sunday night survey, because Sunday is not a busy survey day!

Yes, this site is not so good, and it really takes a while to get points. After almost 2 months, i only managed to get 450 points. It did not seem worth it, so i just used those points in the sweepstakes. No, point in wasting time , and completing long surveys, hoping to get 850 points, that too for only $5 , it's ridiculous.

I know several ways in which i can spend my time better, and earn a lot more :p

I cashed in my points. It took ages to get to a cash out point where the prizes didn't seem like useless garbage. I honestly can't remember what prize I chose. I stopped doing Harris Poll surveys shortly after that. I agree - it takes quite a while to build up the points and I lack the patience to "save them up" for anything worthwile.

I still get invites to their surveys, I just sort of ignore them. The only company that I have ever actually unsubscribed from is Greenfield.

Today I received a very special and unique survey invite from Harris Poll Online. This survey was a screener for an "Online Chat Group" and paid a $100 honorarium. The survey was short and asked for my attitude towards three different industries. I was disqualified after I told them I did not vote in the last presidential election.

This is the first time I received a survey from Harris Poll that paid and is only the second time I received a survey opportunity that paid over $100. I think I received this email because I told Harris Poll in a survey that I wanted to get at least 3-4 survey invites per week. I have noticed that I started to get more survey invites so I'm hoping they will sent me more "Online Chat Group" survey. I told them I was interested in these kinds of survey after was disqualified from this $100 survey.

Today I logged in to my HIpoints account so I could redeem 800 points for $5 Pay Pal payment. I was surprised when I did NOT see that choice in the 800 point Folio. I think HarrisPoll has deleted the $5 incentive useless they moved it to another portfolio. Check your accounts and see?

You're right. After checking thoroughly there is no longer a PayPal option, only this:

Why do the HIpoints Folios change?

HIpoints Folios and the rewards within the Folios are changed to reflect changes in seasons, product availability, and redemption data.

I won't be wasting too much more time on Harris Poll if I don't see the PayPal option back very soon. I wil be getting a 'real job' soon and will be able to buy all those lame prizes with much less effort very soon, plus I won't have to settle for second-rate brands.

I noticed that too the other day that they have got rid of the $5 PayPal. I was all set to redeem one too....very disappointing...

have u noticed that at the end of every survey from them, they ask these 3 questions:

On how many separate occasions would you say you watched news programs on TV during the past 30 days?

On how many different occasions did you do vigorous physical exercise during the past 30 days?

Which of these practices, if any, do you consider to be a serious violation of privacy? Please select all that apply.
Screening of employees for AIDS
The use of programs such as "cookies" to track what an individual does on the Internet
Thorough searches at airport checkpoints based on visual profiles
Unsolicited phone calls for the purpose of selling products or services
None of these

i'm so bored of them

This is probably at the top of my list of favorites. Their points are only good for prizes, and, no, they don't have a huge selection, BUT...

-I *always* qualify for their surveys.
-Their points do not expire. (Most other points-based sites don't give me enough points before they expire to ever cash them in.)
-I know what to expect. Nearly every survey I take for them is 30 points. Occasionally it has been higher. I think ONCE I didn't qualify, and I got 3 points.
-The surveys come frequently enough to be worthwhile, but not so frequently that I can't keep up (like with all of those surveys where you answer a bunch of screening questions and then are disqualified). I usually get about 1-3 a week.
