I first heard of the Homescan (https://www.homescan.com/homescan/US/EN/Login.htm) from Survey Club (http://www.surveyclub.com), but I din't join their panel until I was offered $5 from IndoxDollars to join. This panel is something unique and different that I have NEVER seen. After you register with them, you are sent an email that says if you qualify to join their panel. If you reply to that email, then you will be shipped your scanner and other supplies that are essential for your participation in this panel. After that you can begin scanning all your household purchases. If you transmit your scans every Homescan week (A Homescan week runs from Sunday 12:01 AM through Saturday 12:00 midnight), you will receive an entry to one of their many sweepstakes. You also receive points after you transmit your scans. I'm not sure how they give away their points. You can also take surveys that offer more points and sometimes they offer unique panels that require you to complete the same survey each week. Of course you will receive more points if you participate in this panel.

Points can be redeemed for many different prizes. Personally, I do not like their list of prizes. I prefer Opinion Square/Permission Research prize catalog.

Here is some inforamtion about Homescan:

Nielsen's Homescan Consumer Panel is a "mini-U.S.A.," representing millions of Americans. By scanning the barcodes on their purchases and completing fun surveys, panelists truly make their opinions count in the consumer marketplace.

To become a member of the Homescan Consumer Panels, please complete our online registration (http://www.homescansignup.com/homescan/index.html). (If you have already signed up, please do not register again. Only one membership per household.) Once we receive your household information, you will be placed on a Reserve Status Waiting List. Homescan will then randomly select households to join the panel. This ensures that the panel truly reflects the country's diverse population. Thanks for your interest.

Nielsen is out of their freakin' minds if they think I am going to fall for this:

Based on your answers so far, we would like to invite you to join a group of consumers who will be sharing their cell phone account information with our research team to help improve wireless services in your area. If you decide to participate, just by sharing your cell phone account information, you can qualify to receive $15 over the next year: $10 when you enroll and your cell phone account information has been confirmed, and $5 at the end of your first year of participation.

To participate, you agree to allow Nielsen Mobile, a service of The Nielsen Company and the world's largest independent provider of syndicated consumer research to the telecommunication market, to view your online cell phone bills for research purposes. (Note that this research was previously conducted by Telephia, but Telephia has recently changed their name to Nielsen Mobile.)

We will ask that you provide the account login and password to your telecommunications account(s) through a secured site on the following screen. We assure you the site is secure and that no one will be able to access your information given on the following screen. (Note the 's' after 'http' in the browser and the security lock in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. These two items indicate a secure site.) Be assured that Nielsen Mobile has a privacy policy that ensures that your personal account information will not be disclosed to clients for direct marketing purposes and that your telecommunication services will not be affected.

Membership in the study will have no impact on your ability to use your online cell phone account. Please note: You must successfully provide your online billing login and password (it must be the primary line, if you are using a family or shared plan) in the following steps to be eligible for the incentives. If you don't know or forgot your online billing login and password information, an opportunity to obtain this information will be provided on the following screens.

To participate, you must read and agree to the terms of our privacy policy, click here.

Would you be willing to become a member of this research study and share your account number and online password with this research company?

Yes, I have read and understood the privacy policy and end-user terms and am willing to participate in the research study.

No, I am not interested in participating in the research study.

I have received this survey offer at least two times and for both times I told them I'm not interested in participating in that study. I would probably never say yes to that survey but I would consider participating in that survey if that offered at least $100 for that survey.
