Small Business Knowledge Center (SBKC) (http://www.sbkcenter.com/consumer.php#form) is a panel that pays you for specific junk mail and emails through giftcards.

You get points for your junk mail and when you reach 2,000 points, they will let you know the choices of giftcards available at the moment (they are always changing them).

You can't log in to their website and check your point balance because they haven't created that option yet. The good news is that they are a FULL-SERVICE PANEL, meaning you can ask away all kinds of question and you'll receive your answer pretty much the same day :p

At the end of each month, you'll receive an email with your point balance like this:

THANK YOU MAPLAVER!

As you know, the success of our market research panel is truly determined by the participation of our panelists. Thank you for your participation of sending us your junk mail, junk email and also your help with our retrieval requests.

Your point status is: 786!

Your points are added up through June 30, 2008*.
*Your point status may NOT reflect any envelopes you have sent within this past week.

We want to reward you for forwarding your junk mail and email!

Our clients have expressed a particular interest in the collection of Direct Mail and Email sent directly to Consumers.

Specifically, we are looking for materials related to:

Insurance: Health Insurance Life Insurance, Long Term Care, Medicare
Investments: Annuities, IRA/Rollovers, Mutual Funds, 401(k), Pensions

Here's how you can help SBKC as a consumer panelist and earn your rewards:

Direct Mail: Hold on to direct mail communications you receive from Insurance Carriers (Disability, Health, Life, Long Term Care) and Financial Services Providers (401K, Mutual Funds, IRA Rollover Offers). We will send you pre-paid flexible envelopes that you simply drop off in any mailbox as often as you like.

Of particular interest: Member newsletters / marketing information from companies that you do business or have an account/policy with.

We are not looking for catalogs, magazines, credit card solicitations, telecommunications or the masses of other unrelated/unsolicited junk you surely receive.

Email: Forward emails to consumers@sbkcenter.com that you receive from Insurance Carriers or Financial Services Companies (basically the same stuff we are looking for above). For example, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Insurance as my medical insurance provider and receive a monthly newsletter and periodic communications from the company. If you receive this kind of solicitation / correspondence, I would like for you to forward these communications to help the database grow. This might also be a good time to establish an on-line relationship with your Insurance and Financial Services Providers as they will send you e-newsletters and periodic product updates.

We are not looking for all of your spam. We need information related to Insurance, Investments, Financial Services only.

Again, thank you for your interest in our study.

If you have any questions, please contact us directly via email @ consumers@sbkcenter.com. Your inquiry will be answered within 24 hours. You can also reach us directly @ 312-546-4922 if you have questions.

I joined this after reading this thread. I don't have any envelopes to submit mail yet but I have been forwarding email. Of course, like someone else said, now I'm not getting much junk mail or email. :D A year ago I was getting about 6 credit card offers in the mail every day. I was taking the little paper "credit cards" they were sending and giving my daughter to play with. She had quite a collection! I'm still finding them all over the house and throwing them away now.

I'll have to ask them about the FICO score. I read in their newsletter that they are still accepting scores, but since I just joined I didn't get any details on it. Maria, did they pay you points for submitting your FICO as well as reimburse you for the cost to obtain it?

paddysmum

I passed on this request from SBKC because it costs money to obtain your FICO score, and it seemed to me that SBKC was basically reimbursing me for the money I spent to get it. I saw myself making little money on the transaction.

If anyone else here has furnished SBKC their FICO score, please let us know how much it cost to get it, and was it worth the $20 from SBKC?

FICO is short for Fair Issac Corporation. A FICO score is a very powerful number: 90% of US banks use it determine the interest rates you pay on mortgages and other loans. It's calculated using your payment history, $$ in outstanding debt, # of credit cards, whether you have obtained loans recently, etc. FICO sells your score to banks, auto dealers, etc, when you apply for a loan.

While you can obtain your credit score from all three credit bureaus for free through https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp, it costs some money to get your FICO score.

FICO sells its scores directly to consumers at myFICO.com using data from Equifax and TransUnion.

Equifax and TransUnion also sell FICO scores directly to consumers.
