It may seem obvious to most members of this forum that you need a PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/) account in order to collect your payments in the most timely fashion, but some may not realize that many, if not most, paid survey companies now offer a PayPal option. It is free to open an account and there are no fees associated with sending or receiving payments with a Personal account, while feees do apply for the Premiere account, which is typically used by online merchants or those selling on eBay. Here is a little brief information about this service.
About Us (https://www.paypal-media.com/aboutus.cfm)
Located in San Jose, California, PayPal was founded in 1998 and was acquired by eBay in 2002. PayPal is the safer, easier way to pay and get paid online. The service allows anyone to pay in any way they prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit or account balances, without sharing financial information.
PayPal has quickly become a global leader in online payment solutions with more than 164 million accounts worldwide. Available in 190 markets and 17 currencies around the world, PayPal enables global ecommerce by making payments possible across different locations, currencies, and languages. PayPal has received more than 20 awards for excellence from the internet industry and the business community -most recently the 2006 Webby Award for Best Financial Services Site and the 2006 Webby People's Voice Award for Best Financial Services Site.

Pay Pal has been good to me ever since I created my account last year. It's really easy to use and can be used for purchases with out using a credit or debit card. I have over $200 in my Pay Pal account.

ok I have a paypal account but how do I set my account up on yourfreesurveys? I have not yet seen anything about entering my paypal account info?
You gave YourFreeSurveys your email address when you signed up. Your email address must be the same one that you used when you signed up for PayPal. If you need to change your email address on YourFreeSurveys, then click the Edit Profile button in the upper right hand corner underneath where you log in. Hope this helps!

As Lee said, you can change your email address to your Paypal if you want to do that. You can also wait until your balance reaches $30, and you will be sent an email that you have payment waiting. You can provide your Paypal account email at that time.

I agree nupur. Their are many benefits to having a PayPal account that make it the best way to receive cash. Not only can you receive cash from multiple email account but you can also use the cash to buy what ever you want. The stores that attempt PayPal are limited but their are some good places to shop.
Plus did I mention that it's FREE.
Personal accounts are free. The Premiere account that I have with my eBay store charges me a transaction fee. See original post above for fee schedule.

Dear Lee,
Your privacy is a top priority for PayPal. Each year, we send you a copy of our Privacy Policy so that you know how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. With PayPal, privacy is built in. We've designed our service to enable people to pay without exposing their credit card or bank account numbers. I encourage you to become familiar with our privacy policy and to learn more about how to help protect yourself online by visiting the PayPal Security Center on our website.
Sincerely,
Scott Hodes
Director of Privacy
PayPal
Privacy Policy for PayPal Services (including PayPal Money Market Fund)
This policy describes the ways we collect, store, use and protect your personal information. You accepted this policy when you signed up for our Service. We may amend this policy at any time by posting a revised version on our website. The revised version will be effective at the time we post it. In addition, if the revised version includes a substantial change, we will provide you with 30 days' prior notice by posting notice of the change on the "Policy Updates" page of our website.
How we collect information about you
When you visit the PayPal website, we collect your IP address and standard web log information, such as your browser type and the pages you accessed on our website.
If you open an account, we collect the following types of information from you:
Contact information - your name, address, phone, email, Skype ID and other similar information.
Financial information - the bank account numbers and credit card numbers that you link to your PayPal account.
Before permitting you to use our Service, we may require you to provide additional information we can use to verify your identity or address or manage risk, such as your date of birth, social security number or other information. We may also obtain information about you from third parties such as credit bureaus and identity verification services.
When you are using our Service, we collect information about your account transactions and we may collect information about your computer or other access device for fraud prevention purposes. Finally, we may collect additional information from or about you in other ways not specifically described here. For example, we may collect information related to your contact with our customer support team or store results when you respond to a survey.
How we protect and store personal information
Throughout this policy, we use the term "personal information" to describe information that can be associated with a specific person and can be used to identify that person. We do not consider personal information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not identify a specific user.
We store and process your personal information on our computers in the US, and we protect it by maintaining physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in compliance with applicable US federal and state regulations. We use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption, we enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files, and we authorize access to personal information only for those employees who require it to fulfill their job responsibilities.
How we use the personal information we collect
Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. We may use your personal information to:
provide the services and customer support you request; process transactions and send notices about your transactions; resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems;
prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and enforce our User Agreement;
customize, measure, and improve our services and the content and layout of our website;
send you targeted marketing, service update notices, and promotional offers based on your communication preferences; compare information for accuracy and verify it with third parties.
How we share personal information with other PayPal users
To process your payments, we need to share some of your personal information with the person or company that you are paying or is paying you. Your contact information, date of sign-up, the number of payments you have received from verified PayPal users, and whether you have verified control of a bank account are provided to other PayPal users who you transact with through PayPal.
If you are buying goods or services and pay through PayPal, we may also provide the seller with your confirmed credit card billing address to help complete your transaction with the seller. The seller is not allowed to use this information to market their services to you unless you have agreed to it.
We work with merchants to enable them to accept payments from you using PayPal. In doing so, a merchant may share information about you with us, such as your email address, when you attempt to pay that merchant. We use this information to confirm to that merchant that you are a PayPal customer and that the merchant should enable PayPal as a form of payment for your purchase.
Regardless, we will not disclose your credit card number or bank account number to anyone you have paid or who has paid you through PayPal, except with your express permission or if we are required to do so to comply with a subpoena or other legal process.
How we share personal information with other parties
We may share your personal information with:
Members of the eBay Inc. corporate family -- like eBay, Shopping.com or Skype -- to provide joint content and services (like registration, transactions and customer support), to help detect and prevent potentially illegal acts and violations of our policies, and to guide decisions about their products, services and communications. Members of our corporate family will use this information to send you marketing communications only if you have requested their services.
Service providers under contract who help with parts of our business operations; (fraud prevention, bill collection, marketing, technology services). Our contracts dictate that these service providers only use your information in connection with the services they perform for us and not for their own benefit.
Financial institutions that we partner with to jointly create and offer a product such as the PayPal Plus credit card where we share information with GE Money Bank to determine whether you should receive pre-approved offers for the PayPal Plus credit card. These financial institutions may only use this information to market PayPal-related products, unless you have given consent for other uses.
Credit bureaus to report outstanding negative balance accounts, as allowed by law.
Companies that we plan to merge with or be acquired by. (Should such a combination occur, we will require that the new combined entity follow this privacy policy with respect to your personal information. If your personal information could be used contrary to this policy, you will receive prior notice.)
Law enforcement, government officials, or other third parties when we are compelled to do so by a subpoena, court order or similar legal procedure we need to do so to comply with law we believe in good faith that the disclosure of personal information is necessary to prevent physical harm or financial loss, to report suspected illegal activity, or to investigate violations of our User Agreement.
Other third parties with your consent or direction to do so.
PayPal will not sell or rent any of your personal information to third parties in the normal course of doing business and only shares your personal information with third parties as described in this policy.
How you can restrict PayPal from sharing your personal information
Federal and state laws allow you to restrict the sharing of your personal information in certain instances. However, these laws also state that you cannot restrict other types of sharing. Because we have chosen to refrain from certain types of data sharing, the only type of sharing of your personal information that you may restrict is as follows:
If you do not want PayPal to share your personal information with other financial institutions for the purpose of marketing our jointly offered products to you, please log in to your account and uncheck the box in the Information Sharing section of the Notifications and Information Sharing page. This page can be accessed by going to the Profile subtab under the My Account tab. You can also control how we use your contact information to market our services to you in the notifications preferences.
How you can access or change your personal information
You can review and edit your personal information at any time by logging in to your account and clicking the Profile subtab under the My Account tab.
How you can contact us about privacy questions
If you have questions or concerns regarding this policy, you should contact us by using the "Contact Us" feature on our site or by writing to us at PayPal, Attn: Privacy Department, P.O. Box 45950, Omaha, NE 68145-0950. PayPal maintains offices at 2211 N. First Street, San Jose, CA.
PayPal is a TRUSTe licensee. If after contacting PayPal, our response to your privacy concern is unsatisfactory, then you may file a privacy complaint on the TRUSTe website (www.truste.org). TRUSTe will serve as a liaison to PayPal to resolve your concerns regarding our privacy practices. Please note that TRUSTe will not intervene for any other type of issue with your account.

I think both AlertPay and PayPal are free to send or receive funds with the personal accounts. It is only the business acounts, that are used with auction sites, such as eBay in the case of Paypal, when you have to worry about fees.
You're wrong. With Alertpay PERSONAL account you pay $3 for a check and $0.50 if you transfer it to your bank account.
I love transfering my paypal cash to my bank account FOR FREE but with ALERTPAY I'll have to pay $0.50 which is not much but still is not free :mad:

I don't choose to use ALERTPAY instead of PAYPAL. But there are websites that I use like the FREE ONLINE CASH SYSTEM (FOCS) that only pay through ALERTPAY :mad:

Yes, alert pay is less popular than Paypal, in fact lots of people haven't even heard about it at all. I have an alertpay account, i do not use it, though. I just opened it in case some company only transfers funds through alertpay ;)
I do not trust paypal much too, since there have been several cases against it, for putting customers accounts on hold. As soon as i have some money in my account, i immediately transfer it to my bank.
Much safer to have money in the bank, than online, since i can withdraw it anytime with my debit card. :cool:

Yea, I first heard of Alert Pay here. I used Paypal though, for my online transactions. Just like when I need to receive a money when I win in some contests. I do not own a credit card but PayPal still allows us the easiest and fastest way to giving money. :)

Questions About Paypal
Advice May 20th, 2009
I get lots of email with questions about Paypal. I’ve written a couple of posts about the merits of using Paypal and some of the ways to protect yourself from scam artists who use the Paypal name to rip you off. Most of the questions I receive, however how to do with the basics, so I will address those issues in this post.
How do I withdraw funds from Paypal?
You can withdraw funds via check or electronic transfer to your bank account. Please note that to withdraw funds, you must confirm your primary email address.
Checks: Check withdrawal process takes one to two weeks to complete A $1.50 processing fee for each check withdrawal
Electronic Transfer: Withdrawal by electronic transfer to bank account takes 3 to 4 business days to complete
There is no charge by PayPal for an electronic transfer.
To withdraw funds from account: Click https://www.paypal.com/WDFUNDS or copy and paste the entire link into the address bar. Choose your withdraw options from the list and follow the directions
How do I receive funds from a survey site that has a different email address for me that my Paypal account email?
I’m going to use Yourfreesurveys as an example here to answer this questions. But this applies to most survey sites who pay to our Paypal account. If payment if made automatically, your earnings will be sent to the email address that you used to register with that site. You can link (add) any email address that you choose to your Paypal account email so that whenever a payment is made to any of the addresses you list, your funds will go into your Paypal account.
To add an email address to your PayPal account:
Sign in to your PayPal account;
On the main menu, select My Account > Profile > Add or Edit Email;
Click the Add button;
Enter the email address you wish to add to your PayPal account (the email
address registered in Yourfreesurveys) and click Save;
PayPal will send a confirmation email to you. Click on the confirmation link
within the email;
Enter your PayPal password and click Confirm
Hope this helps to clear up some of the basic questions about Paypal. Please leave a comment or send me an email if you need any additional information!

Section 4.2 of the user agreement will read as follows:
“4.2 Receiving Payments for Commercial Transactions and Personal Transactions.
a. Fees depend on whether you are making a commercial transaction or a personal transaction. A commercial transaction involves buying and selling goods or services, and payments received when you send a “request money” using PayPal. A personal transaction involves sending money to and receiving money from friends and family without making a purchase.
b. If you are selling goods or services, you may not ask the buyer to send you a personal payment for the purchase. If you do so, PayPal may remove your ability to accept personal payments.”
Section 8 of the user agreement will read as follows:
8. Fees. All fees are in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise stated.
Fees depend on whether you are making a commercial transaction or a personal transaction. A commercial transaction involves buying and selling goods or services, and payments received when you send a “request money” using PayPal. A personal transaction involves sending money to and receiving money from friends and family without making a purchase.
Personal Transactions. Fees depend on the payment source that the sender selects. The amount of the fee will be shown at the time the payment is sent. The Fee is paid by either the sender or the recipient. The sender decides who pays.
Domestic Personal Transactions - U.S. sender and recipient.
Payment Fully Funded by PayPal Balance or Bank Payment Fully or Partially Funded by PayPal Credit, Debit Card, or Credit Card
Sending / Receiving Free 2.9% + Fixed Fee (see below)
International Personal Transactions - The sender or recipient is outside the U.S.
if anyone want to send money or request money by paypal,select personal column(friends and family without making a purchase) to send money,otherwise paypal charged 3%.

I had an experience with PayPal that I think I should share. I am not starting to creating an argument about PayPal and I don't want to become the hated member of the forum.
I opened my PayPal account for survey use. One day there was a $500 fraudulent withdrawal and the next day a $400 withdrawal. Because my PayPal account was linked to my primary checking account (my mistake!), when my PayPal account was depleted, PayPal took the balance from my checking account. I had just written two (2) checks which were returned for Insufficient funds.
The good news was PayPal returned the $900. The bad news is it took PayPal 10 business days to credit my account and I was not reimbursed for the $140 in fees. I now have my PayPal account linked to a checking account with a balance of less than $100.

I spent a lot of time on the phone with PayPal. PayPal did live up to the agreement they have with their members and the $900 was returned to my account. I don't know why PayPal couldn't tell they were fraudulent withdrawals. How many withdrawals do they have in a day? They can only screen to a reasonable degree.
My messages to the Forum members are 1) If your PayPal Account is linked to a bank PayPal, has open access to that account so keep the balance low; 2) PayPal does protect you from fraud but keep in mind that if a fraudulent transaction goes through PayPal will rectify the situation but you may go without your money for a period of time. I don't know the maximum length of time but, as I mentioned, it was 10 business days in my situation and 3) PayPal isn't responsible for bank fees you incur as a result of the fraud.

Someone bought an item from my eBay store for $10 and labeled it 'Indian Viagra' under the line for 'Comments' and PayPal closed down my account and would only send form letters to my emails. I am guessing a competitor did this, because my Feedback score was perfect at the time. I lost my entire eBay business that was earning $2000 per month as a result of this. I finally got a new account using my father's credit card account, but it was too late as the Recession killed any new business. Now, I earn about $500 per month from my eBay store: lapisconnection.com (http://www.lapisconnection.com)

LapisLee: I'm so sorry that happened to you. I have had nothing but bad luck with ebay so I stopped using it except for two ebay stores that sell quilting supplies and I have been using them since they were set up. (Had to be honest and admit I do still use 2 ebay stores.)
My poor luck with ebay was disappointing because I collect bone china tea cups and the ones I want usually cannot be found in the United States since we were a mere colony when England had companies manufacturing china. My only options now are Estate sales (not yard sales) and Antique stores but the Antique dealer's mark-up puts them out of my price range. So, I decided my tea cup collect is complete. Sorry, to get off topic.)
Penny: The one thing PayPal told me to do is link my account to a bank account that only has a small balance or a credit card with a low credit limit. PayPal can only take what is there so now if someone tried to withdrawal $900 from my PayPal account maximum amount they would steal is $75. When I have a survey site make a PayPal deposit, I transfer to the account linked to my PayPal account which is at the same bank as my regular account. I then transfer from my "small" balance account to my regular checking. It works in reverse as well. If I want to pay for something using my PayPal account, I transfer the amount into PayPal just in time for that transaction.

PayPal Payment Holds
We're committed to providing you and your customers with a fast and secure payment service while keeping our prices competitive. To keep ourselves on track, we've established a Funds Availability Policy.
We might be throwing some new words at you here, but we promise to explain them in full detail. As part of our Funds Availability Policy, "reserves" may apply to certain accounts. A reserve is a percentage of your payments that'll be released at a later date. A related term is "payment hold." A payment hold is a type of reserve in which 100% of the funds received are held for a specified amount of time.
Payment hold - a longer definition
A payment hold is an amount of money that belongs to you, set aside by PayPal, while we make sure that your customers are satisfied. The funds for payments received are held temporarily as a pending balance in your account, and released at the end of the given hold timeframe. The funds may be released early if PayPal determines that the transaction has been fulfilled and your customers are satisfied.
Why does PayPal use payment holds?
Payment holds ensure that sellers have sufficient funds in their account if, for example, a customer files a dispute. This allows PayPal to provide a fast and secure payment service to you and your customers while keeping our prices competitive.
We know this is a change in the way we do business with you and we hope you understand that, if you incur a payment hold, you haven’t done anything wrong. In deciding whether to apply payment holds, we review many factors including transaction activity, business type, and customer disputes.
When do payment holds apply?
Payment holds may be applied to some or all transactions in your account if PayPal perceives a risk associated with your account. Here are some common reasons for holding payments: You have been an eBay and PayPal member for less than 6 months, and, have limited selling activity, or
You have an eBay feedback score of less than 100, and do not have a record of good performance or
You have a Buyer dissatisfaction percentage of 5% or greater than 5%, or
You have an average Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) of less than 4.5, or
You have received fewer than 20 Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 12 months, or
You have a high rate of customer disputes
You're selling in a high risk category or industry such as, but not limited to, tickets, travel, gift certificates, computers, consumer electronics, or cell phones
You have a spike in selling activities or begin selling in a category without an established historyIf your account is subject to payment holds, PayPal will provide you with notice specifying the terms. The terms may require that the amounts received into your account are held for a certain period of time.
If PayPal places payment holds on your account, the funds will be shown as “pending” in your PayPal balance.
When does PayPal release payment holds?
Payments will be held in a pending balance for a certain time period. For example, if you receive a $100 payment (after fees), the $100 will be held in a pending balance for that amount of time. After then, the money will be available for withdrawal.
The money may be released sooner if: We can confirm that the item was delivered
Your buyer leaves positive feedback. (Applies only to eBay items.)
To get access to this money more quickly, please process this order right away and communicate with your customers early and often.What can I do to avoid payment holds?
Here are some things you can do:
Improve your DSR feedback rating
Process your orders right away
Communicate early and often with your buyers
Resolve all customer disputes quicklyIf you meet the following, you'll receive payments instantly in most cases: You have been an eBay and PayPal member for 6-months or more, AND
Your total Feedback score is 100 or greater, AND
Your Buyer dissatisfaction percentage is less than 5% AND
You are selling in a category or industry with an established history.Or Your average DSR is 4.5 or greater AND
Your have received 20 or more DSRs in the last 12-months AND
Your buyer dissatisfaction percentage is less than 5% AND
You are selling in a category or industry with an established history.
I’m a new seller. Will payments I receive be held?
If you’re a new seller with PayPal, we may hold your payments until you establish payments history and a record of good performance.
I’m a tenured PayPal seller. Will payments I receive be held?
If you don’t have a record of good performance or have limited selling activity or other indication of potential performance problems, your payments may be held.

What type of Pay Pal account do you recommed? :rolleyes: I looked at their site and was totally confused as there were more than the 2 options that you guys are discussing on this forum. I have ignored some sites due to the fact that they only used PayPal to pay you. But I like this site, so I want to get a PayPal so that I can stick wih it. Thanks for any input.

Yoga, I have taken this advice & switched my paypal over to an acct with a small balance. Just in case. ;)
